Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill – Another perspective

My father used to say: “Where there is fire there is smoke” and by using millions of gallons of oil/gasoline a day we know that minor and some not so minor accidents will happen from time to time. No reason to get crazy, to point fingers and to play the blame game as the damn liberals like to do.

The oil that spilled into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico are tiny compared the the total amount of water in the ocean. In comparison it’s like dropping one single tiny drop of oil into an average sized swimming pool or put in other terms it’s like rubbing sun tan lotion on your body and going for a swim in that very same pool. Sure, there will be a slight “oil contamination” but it’s nothing to worry about at all.

As for the animals dying: If they can’t take a little oil, I think they should die. After all, crude oil is a 100% natural product, no chemicals there, it’s the way God put it in the ground 5000 years ago. Isn’t that what Darwin was talking about? Survival of the fittest?

Oil Spill Cleanup works at the Gulf coast. There is not much to cleanup because the situation has been hyped and exaggerated by the liberal media…

I will not participate in any childish blame-game or finger-pointing, let’s just thank BP for a change that they already invested OVER 500 MILLION DOLLARS of their own private money to clean up the Gulf. Something they are doing because they are good people. They are called “Beyond Petroleum” because they care for our energy needs, for the people that work for them and for the earth. After all they are working hard to provide us with high quality gasoline for almost a century now. I am not ready to throw them under the bus just because they might have made a minor mistake. No sir!

So let’s chill and sit back and let’s think about ways we can help instead of whining. I actually don’t like to agree with the illegitimate President in the White House but I, too am satisfied with the way BP is handing the situation.

Comparing a single drop of WATER to a OIL SPILL?
That’s *quite* idiotic, saying animals should die for not standing crude oil, is horrible. Crude Oil has elements that can kill.

Edmaniac, Canadian and *very* glad to be.

At last, some common sense about BP.

One question, liberals: Why were BP in the gulf of Mexico? Because Obama told them to go there – this is all his fault.

If only we had a decisive president then this matter would have been solved months ago. If Sarah Palin had been in charge she would simply have nuked the leak and solved the problem in a moment. Obama is afraid of making tough decisions.

It wasn’t Obama’s fault, you say pointing fingers is a “Liberal game” thus jimmy=Liberal.

(BTW I’m not Liberal, I’m a Conservative and I think you people are stupid)

@Jimmy Goddard you made some excellent points there.

i may not like Edmaniac but i think he also made a good point as well.

    @ Whomever wrote this article

Animals that die off because of Oil spills because it’s poisonous to them.

    @ I love the USA
    Jimmy didn’t make a point. :/

Yeah….I’d be curious to see if you could survive if we filled your house with crude oil. As for it being 100% natural that is one of the most ridiculous arguments I have ever heard, fire is 100% natural but it’s still pretty damn lethal. I honestly thought this blog was a joke at first, but I don’t know how anyone could have this kind of persistence.

I agree, let’s see, We’ll do it until he says he quits STR.

  8. jimmygoddard May 31st, 2010 4:12 PM

Edmaniac – you just need to open your heart to Jesus and then you will understand my point.

@Shelley – it’s true what you always say, the liberals have no idea what they are talking about. The way I see it – all our valuable hydrocarbons are being washed away by the gulf of mexico. It’s obama’s fault since he told BP where and how to drill. If Obama bad any guts he’d be billing the mexicans for all the free oil we sent their way. Why does Obama always put America last?

  9. Marcus Gaomon (Edmaniac) May 31st, 2010 4:24 PM

@ Jimmy Godtard- I’m never opening my heart to a guy whom I DON’T BELIEVE in.besides, it’s people like you that supports fundamental christians that keep out of religion for 2 years now. And Jimmy, if your kids watching Ed Edd n Eddy, he’s awesome. He’s becoming Canadian. :D

I remember to the oil desaster at the French Coast 1978 – this was not funny – but now the beach is clean. On the one hand you are right, of course. On the other hand, it is a lot of work to clean up the whole beach…..after 2-5 years the coast is clean again. The tourist business, the shrimpers and the fisher men have some troubles with the oily water for the next years. Don`t forget these people. Since some decades, we have a lot of oil remains along the Mediterranean Coast. Everywhere you have black blots on the beaches and rocky coast – you sit down on a rock and you have dirty pants. This looks not nice. I mean – this is the reason, why people critizice it. This has nothing to do with liberals and republicans – dirt is dirt on the beach.

  11. Loves Morality June 1st, 2010 4:50 PM

JG. Don’t you think that BP should be billing the residents of the gulf coast for the free oil they are getting in the water? These people are getting a windfall with the free oil that they can use for their cars, BBQs, and so on.

People should learn responsibility and not take advantage this poor corporation in its time of crisis.

  12. Bil Friday June 2nd, 2010 2:56 PM

Haha, you f00king Americans are so stupid! :-D

Wish you all die from oil and f00k!

    Best,
    Bil

  13. Thomas June 2nd, 2010 11:58 PM

Are you FUCKING RETARDED? How can you say that the oil spill is insignificant? That it will do nothing? If you’re a ‘Christian’ like you say you are, then why are you enjoying the deaths of thousands of animals? You sadistic bitch whore! As if LA didn’t have enough to deal with, what with the sinking wetlands and stuff, now we have dozens upon hundreds of people losing jobs in the seafood industry because the fish they catch are contaminated by crude oil.

“Let’s just thank BP for a change that they already invested OVER 500 MILLION DOLLARS of their own private money to clean up the Gulf.”

WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK IF MORE OIL WILL COME ANYWAYS? Right now they need to plug up that damn whole, which they’re trying to do, but until they plug it there is still oil coming. People are deterring the oil by cleaning individual blades of GRASS. GRASS. People are cleaning fucking OIL off of strands of GRASS. You fucking bitch, you can’t appreciate anything. How about i replace your drinking water with oil? I should do that, you’ll explode when you reach hell that way.

wow. I am straight up blown away by the idiotic writing here. good work.

  15. Go Buckeyes!!! June 8th, 2010 11:43 AM

The Earth was NOT created 5,000 years ago. It took millions of years. Pull your dick out of your sister and read a DAMN BOOK!!! OIL IS HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH!!! Do your part and help clean up the mess. It is destroying peoples’ lives in the gulf. Do you want your kids to not be able to see sea turtle on Animal Planet in your trailer park? You guys are just stupid fundy-dumbasses (aka. redneck) who are an embarresment to the United States.

  16. Salla June 9th, 2010 5:52 PM

Okay, how about you take a life-long swim in the waters contaminated from the Oil Spill, and see how long you survive you retards?

  17. Mean June 10th, 2010 2:46 AM

    Go Buckeyes

    “read a DAMN BOOK”
How about YOU read a DEVIN BOOK instead if that gay porn you normally read. If you don’t know what it looks like there is “Bible” written on the front.

As for the oil spill. Shit happens and BP is doing everything in there power to get control of the situation. You all just looking for someone to blame. If you want someone to blame because YOU want cheap fuel blame Obama. Not because he had anything to do with it (The oil platform was built before his time) but because he is a muslim terrorist and should be sent to Guantanamo.

  18. Marcus Gaomon (Edmaniac) June 10th, 2010 6:45 PM

Mean, what the hell? Obama’s American and Christian, why a muslim would be considered a terrorist if he/she didn’t do anything if he/she wouldn’t do such? Besides like Buckeyes said read a book that isn’t the Bible, STR Edition.

  19. Joshua June 13th, 2010 3:06 PM

    Shelley,

You don’t make any sense in this post. An alternative perspective on an issue can certainly be a good thing if it involves some reasonable logic. In this case, it does not.

Thanking BP for lying to the MMS by saying it’s safety precautions warranted permits for deep sea drilling? They had no preparations whatsoever to deal with this gusher. I understand this is a major incident and it would be a a challenge for anyone even well-prepared to handle, but these guys had nothing lined up at all.

They are not Beyond Petroleum either. Exxon, Shell, and Chevron have invested FAR more into alternative energy sources and in many cases have created THOUSANDS of new jobs in the United States and abroad with these investments. BP falls far behind in investment other than in its marketing campaign.

Lastly, BP shouldn’t be defended as a patriotic oil supplier. Out of everyone supplying oil & gas to fuel the United States, BP supplies less than 15%. The United States is a small portion of its otherwise European, Middle Eastern and North African based operations.

Sure it’s invested $500 million of its own private funds but keep in mind it also just withheld a dividend from its investors. Essentially what they did was take away the earnings of honest investors (investments like these fuel America’s growth!) and used that extra income on the gulf spill.

On top of that, BP has over $6 billion USD in actual cash reserves and a credit line of over $20 BILLION dollars. This surpasses the buying power of most major countries! Of course they should be held accountable!

Thanks for your time, and I hope this serves as motivation to investigate and research your material before posting and misleading people.

    Joshua

  20. Charles Roast III June 13th, 2010 10:38 PM

Great article as usual Shelley. People don’t seem to ‘get it’, God is on BP’s side and that’s the fact. Who was the last country to challenge BP’s moral authority to get oil from God’s earth? That’s right: Iran. And as God Himself wanted it Iran’s government was overthrown only a few months later!

    Always Right

  21. Marcus Gaomon (Edmaniac) June 14th, 2010 12:25 PM

Nah, God doesn’t care for Charles Roast III, on the other hand, Satan loves you.

  22. Lola June 17th, 2010 4:51 PM

Arsenic is a natural product, but I wouldn’t see you being happy with it in your drinking water. Stupid…

  23. Joshua June 17th, 2010 5:35 PM

    Hey Guys,

This site is deadly serious stuff! Keep up the good work shouting-down these Christian thugs!

    Josh

  24. A June 18th, 2010 8:55 AM

lmfao, I didn’t realize you were for real. Its people like you that keep the world from progressing. Maybe we should cover your breathing orifices in oil? Yea, you should try breathing anything but oxygen for a while, see how the animals feel. Go learn some science.

  25. Go Buckeyes!!! June 22nd, 2010 4:00 PM

    @Mean Jane-
I prefer non-fiction books. The bible is a lie. That oil everyone of you rednecks are worried about takes millions of years to form, which means the bible lied. BP is NOT doing enough. They are going from the cheapest method to the most expensive method instead of just fixing the problem. Obama is not a muslim or a terrorist. He has muslim ancestry, but he isn’t muslim or there isn’t enough evidence to prove he is yet. Get over it.

    Jimmy Goddard sucks dick.

  26. Caitie_the_democtrat June 23rd, 2010 1:11 AM

Wow, really Shelley? I’d like to see you try and live if your house was filled with oil. And, hello, you just don’t get it, do you? All the people down south who were already crippled (economically speaking) by hurrican Katrina will now have a harder time. A lot of our seafood comes from the gulf, so what will happen when all the seafood dies from the oil? Prices will go up, up, UP! You idiot. Oil spills don’t just affect the people close by, they affect our entire country!

  27. atheist July 14th, 2010 1:10 PM

u christian tards, so much for caring about life. the ocean is not a swimming pool, it is an ocean.

Open your heart to something beyond this MAN MAE VERSION of God who has promoted the slaughter of innocent people & creatures for centuries. Check yourself. Do you really believe that the animals deserve to die “naturally” when it is a man CREATED way that we pull this resource out of the ground in such immense amounts? It is not as if the “liberals” are angry at a volcano for erupting and destroying an ecosystem.

It seems to me that many Americans do not want to accept any fault for this life style of abundance we have marketed and addicted our people to, nor do they want to sacrifice or make any of the necessary changes that are required for us to live more symbiotically with the earth that we were GIFTED to live on.

I am not angry at you as it does not serve me to harm myself with anger. I have compassion for everyone, especially those that will seek to destroy us.

It’s time to stop fighting. It is time to practice what we preach. So if you believe in Jesus, really, then love thy neighbor and treat them as you wish to be treated.

  30. Jeb V August 15th, 2010 4:58 AM

There’s been a lot of confusion and backtalk on this issue, so let’s get one thing straight. The only thing that’s CRUDE about this oil is the SEXUAL CRUDITY of the GAYS who wallow in it to get their DEVIANT SEXUAL KICKS from PRETENDING TO BE BLACK.

IT IS THE OIL OF JUSTICE, SLICK WITH THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD, AND REPRESENTS HIS TERRIBLE JUDGEMENT ON THE BIRDS AND FISH WHO DISOBEYED HIM AND THE GAYS OF LOUISIANA.

    Only a SODOMITE would disagree.

These statements are poisonous and infectious the like of which should not be taken lightly. I have a couple of
questions that maybe the followers of S.T.R. would be able to answer:
First) How can the Earth be merely 5,000 old, this is an
    statement speaking from geological, chemical,
and just from my instincts standpoint.

Second) Why would “God” be on BP’s side?

  34. Q and A November 29th, 2010 11:11 PM

Why has my comment been altered? My English is not as choppy as the Bearing Sea…

  37. Anonymous April 10th, 2011 5:18 PM

    You’re completely retarded.

Saying that the spill was a minor accident is like saying that a nuclear explosion is like a small spark.

  38. Conor July 12th, 2011 1:56 PM

Jimmy? Redtardness should be a sin. You Nuke the sea you end up with it raining Nucleaur waste. Thank God Obama is president. I’d love to throw you in crude oil and see how well you took it.

  39. Michael A. October 31st, 2011 11:14 PM

Just a fact I learned in driving school:
One drop of oil contaminates a tub full of water.
Another interesting fact: Although BP payed for the damages made by this oil spill, they did not pay a penny to those harmed in the (ongoing) oil spill taking place in Ghana.

    Regards

    Michael
