The Old Greek had a special army with only homosexuals in it! And no that’s not why they lost ;) They did it because they thought men would fight harder when they saw their lover also suffering in the combat.

I am older than you – I remember very well to the War in Vietnam. I was a teenager as the war in Vietnam began in summer 1965 – the first troups arrived at Da Nang, at the coast (I was born in Greece). Some American guys told me, a lot of homos were stationed there and they had no troubles with them. After 1975, after this war, I met some vets in Britan and Greece, we were in the same age. They told me, they had a lot of homos in Vietnam, because they needed people, who were able to fight in the rainforest. (Just the US students were against this war) You are too young, you just have seen one war….the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. I was born, as the war in Korea began and as the war in Vietnam began, I was a teenager. Now I am old – but I remember, they had a lot of homos. Nobody was talking about that, you understand?

Once you called me a “Hippie” some years ago….I was such a longhaired guy in the 60ies and 70ies. The time changed. Now I wear my suit and have short hair and have a good job in an office. I am a true Christian – and I know, Jesus will come soon. But Jesus told us, we have to live in peace………War is not the answer! Please read the “whole” Bible!!!

Hi – I remember to the Vietnam War for example, I was in school as the war began 1965. Around 1970 I met some US guys (in my age) – they told me about the battles in the rainforests. The big problem was, Nixon needed young soldiers, cause at 1970 he attacked Cambodia too, cause the Vietcongs had their bases in Cambodia. But most of these young US soldiers had no experiences in tropical rainforests. A lot of them were not able to fight by over 100F in muddy water – plus venomous snakes, spiders….. General Westmoreland, they called him “Westi”, was the leader of the US Army in Vietnam, he took everybody – also Australians, Canadians, young guys from Haiwai, Samoa…and a lot of them were homos as well. I still remember very well, cause a friend of mine, (a Vietnam Vet) told me that. But he said to me, these guys were ok, because most important in a war is to survive!!…and not sex. You have never seen a war – so you cannot talk about it. Once I was reporter in the Balkan War 15 years ago, this was also a terrible war. My American friends, who fought in Vietnam told me a lot about their adventures. Right now I am nearby 60. The younger Vietnam Vets are in my age. Always they had homos in the Army, but nobody was talking about it – this was the reason – you understand what I mean.

Hi Jane – for example, I was a longhaired guy in the late 60ies and 70ies, but in Austria, Europa. On my trips to India or to Greece, I met many American hippies. Some of them fought in Vietnam. They told me, they had a lot of hash, opium and heroin in Vietnam – cause it grows in these countries. The younger Vietnam vets are in my age – in the 70ies they told me, a lot of them became junkies – because to fight in a rainforest was real dangerous – not the Vietcong soldiers were dangerous, much more dangerous were all these snakes, spiders, wilddogs, wildcats, crocodiles, tigers……even to walk through the rainforest can be deadly. Furthermore the Vietcong had a lot of deadly traps as well. Right now, the younger people don`t know that. Around 20% of GIs became drug addicted and as they returned to the States again, they lived as junkies or hobos. The USA payed a terrible prize. It was a very strange war, unfortunatelly the communists won in Indochina. Of course, the US Army won every single battle – but the politicans lost the war, this was so unbelieveable. At the time, we had the height of the Cold War. The Soviets and China supported the communists in the north of Vietnam – and the USA supported the democratic south. In spring 1975 we all have seen, what actually happend in Southeast Asia. The US Army had to leave Vietnam, they had to leave even the US Embassy in Saigon, the capital city of S-Vietnam. The Vietcongs, the Vietnamese communists occupited also the south and whole Vietnam became a communistic state till 1990. They US Army didn`t won in Vietnam. This was a hard time for president R.Nixon and Kissinger and Nixon was in big troubles in the early 70ies, Watergate for example….. He lost a war….but in political way. The US Army was strong enough to beat the communistic north of Vietnam – but it was forbidden to use nuclear weapons. If the US Army would use a-bombs, the communists in the north would get a-bombs from the Soviet Union and China – both are nuclear states since over 50 years.
Yes – if you want, I was such a hippie – but it was a very nice time 35-40 years ago. I am laughing, all these former hippies and lefties are old people now. A lot of them died by drugs or on their journeys……We were the young revolution in the late 60ies. Now we are the old….without revolution. Since 30 years I have a family, short hair, have a good job….and so on. Therefore I cannot understand young people, who try to by conservative. They are not conservative….I am conservative, cause my higher age.
