Just ran across this blog and I think it’s brilliant! I haven’t seen such wonderfully subtle satire in ages. I just about split a side reading through your posts. But reading through these posts I guess some people didn’t get the joke. Anyway, keep up the good comedy!
Just for you STR fans out there that are probably going to hate my comment no matter what, I’m going to get a few things straightened out so you can at least see where I’m coming from:
1) I’m a universalist. I believe that there is no one correct religion, no is there one wrong religion for that matter. I personally don’t care if there is or isn’t a god because I have never felt compelled to worship. When it comes to beliefs, I more like to think about philosophy than weather a deity exists or not.
2) I’m a teenage girl, 17 years old, and I am a bisexual. I did not “become one”, I had actually suspected that I may have been one since I hit puberty and I came to terms with it a long time ago. My parents and friends are aware of this, and they support me fully.
3) I don’t push my sexuality onto other people, and I actually am so busy with all my AP and CIS courses that load me down with homework and with all the dancing I do for my dance studio that I feel like i barly have time for my boyfriend – who is straight and a Christian, and he knows that I am bi.
4) I fell like pushing a religion on someone is one of the worst things to do. I think that we should just believe what we believe, and let others do the same.
My big problem is, why did he turn his back on you just because he is gay? Suddenly because he is gay, he isn’t a republician? Suddenly because of who he is, he is a sinner? I don’t really understand. And why do you treat LGBT people like they are diseased? I can’t make you sick by touching you. I can’t turn you gay or lesbian by sneezing. I am who I am – you are who you are, and that is the truth. I also know enough about Christian religion to know that the anti-gay statements made in the bible were all made in the same books that teach you how to sell your daughter into slavery. And i know for a fact that that isn’t right.
So I ask you, not as a bisexual or as a teenage girl, but as another human being, please don’t try to change things that someone else can’t control. We are all people, we are all the same underneath our appearences and our lifestyle. You can believe that homosexuality is bad and that is fine with me – this is America, and we are allowed freedom of speech – but please, don’t hate a person, or a group of people just because of something that is a part of them.
