Leeroy, you are absolutely right: Linux is great for calculating how much hemp-based tofu it might take to fill your bio-gas-powered eco-dome, but for all serious jobs you need a serious operating system such as Microsoft Windows. Your teacher has obviously smoked too much dope, and as a result has made a very common error… at least common amongst foolish liberals.
Linux is not, never has and never will be ready for the desktop.
Linux and Windows have been around for a long time… but why is it that nobody sensible uses Linux? It’s simply because Linux is still not yet ready for the desktop, the server-room or just about any environment where IT is critical. Anybody who thinks that Linux is ready for industry is obviously a fool and this foolishness will prevent him getting a job:
Not so long ago, we hired an intern to look after our growing computer systems: We narrowed our choice down to two candidates. One with a “mixed” skill-set of Linux and Windows, the other pure Windows. Naturally we ditched the Linux guy… after discovering that he thought “Gnu” and “Python” were acceptable technologies in the workplace we figured him for an obvious communist whose values were incompatible with our Christian values.
Linux is not, never has and never will be ready for the desktop.
Take our advice – the only job those Linux skills will get you is in some kind of hippie-commune… or worse, you might become a teacher in another liberal college where the government funds you to tell the same lies to yet more kids.

Thank you for your supportive message it is very reasurring i can find out the truth from you and the experts you have working for you. since i recieved your reply i’ve had some heated discussions with my tutor who still insists xbox use dam small linux and that “your expert must have got his qualification out of a kinder egg” and that “your opinion is moronic and you must be smoking stronger weed than he does” also he has now just about converted all my fellow students to use linux but i’m trying to stay strong and close my ears to his pure haterd of all things microsoft. Lol. So sad, but its true. Some ppl seem to think that you need to be able to use linux in order to get a good it job. I dont know how to use linux, but know how to use Windows and got a CCNP in Cisco and earn lot more then linux geeks.
They could easily put a linux or bsd os in Cisco equipments, but still create and use their own OS. And yet Cisco is the biggest network appliance company in the world.
OS = Operating System (Like Windows XP, Vista and Apple).
Although they dont put Windows in it either, but thats because they need a textbased os. But they do make management programs that supports Windows.

Hi!!! it’s no need to know Windows to do get a good job beacuse even my little brother can use it ¬¬. Using linux it’s no a sin ¬¬, and it’s no for experts only. I said this beacuse everybody’s (whit some of curiosity or brain ^^) can download a complete package of linux. There’s many packages forn every need. Many great enterprises in the world use GNU/LINUX (this is the real name ¬¬) not only ’cause it’s free. Linux can be managed by every expert to transform is it in a good tool for the needs of the enterprise ^^. It’s need to know linux if you are gonna be at computers bussiness :p. Oh, and as far as Linux, the best servers on the web use Unix based programming. Everyone that is a true programmer and administrator knows this. Unix has been around longer than Windows and is more secure. Just because the average user can’t work it does not mean that it is not used. Before windows there was DOS and DOS is based on Unix. And Linux is not illegal. Linux is written and distributed under the GNU General Public License which means that its source code is freely-distributed and available to the general public. This means you can use it and reprogram it to your needs and redistribute it, so long as you provide the source code.
And calling the intern you hired a communist because he uses Linux and Python. Wake up, Python is a programming language like C++, which is rapidly gaining popularity.

Just a little insight, students who graduate from ITT Tech with being trained using Linux receive $10,000 to $20,000 more on their pay beating out windows. But it’s ok we all know you caught the short bus as a child, I mean why learn a system when Bill Gates can screw you and not have the courtesy of giving a reach around.
