Oh, and let's not forget to mention that America actually didn't "win" anything in either war. A futile war, lasting many years, killing many young innocent people, for the sake of profit in the hands of the few.

I fucking approve.

Victory in Iraq looks an awful lot like Victory in Vietnam. Oh wait, America didn't win Vietnam. They just declared victory once they stopped making a profit off the massive cocaine smuggling. And then they fucking left.

So, what happened in Iraq is obviously this: America stopped making money from the oil. So they declared victory. BUT THEY HAVE NO WAY OUT.

Problem, christfags?

Patrick - I am scubadiver and live in Vienna Austria - born in Greece. Many Europeans fly to the Red Sea or to the Arabian Gulf for diving vacations. The Middle East is near Europe and some countries have a beautiful sea. I have friends in Israel and Egypt - they are marine biologists and they can tell me about the real situation in these countries.
I am Christian and it is impossible for us Christians to collaborate with Muslims. True is, most of these Muslims are against this war - how can you talk about victory?
The same situation you had in Vietnam - I remember well, as US troops had to leave Indochina - the last in spring 1975. (watched that on TV)
You cannot win against millions of people - the same you have in Iraq right now.
Most important for me is the life in the Red Sea, cause it belongs to the most beautiful coralseas worldwide. By the way - I met some US citizens in the Middle East too - most of them were divers and seashell collectors.
I am from Europe and for us the Red Sea is the nearest tropical sea - this is the reason why I had been a couple of times in these countries.

Peter, what where you doing in the Middle East? Collaborating with the enemy? The people you talked to are probably just jealous of Americans and Iraqi's freedom.

USA is clearly winning in Iraq, the people are starting to love them as they have gotten used to living in freedom and democracy. With success following up in Afghanistan, we can, with god's help, transfer the troops and destroy the last islamofascist fortress, Iran.

Hi Shelley - Between 2003 - 2008 I was a couple of times in Egypt, Turkey and Syria. I met 3 ex-GI`s, not much. They told me a bit about the situation in Iraq. If you are in arabian countries and you talk to natives, the war in Iraq is their main subject. One of my cousins (this family lives in S-Texas) - he was in Iraq too and he told me also about their experiences in Iraq and the situation.
All their impressions and experiences are complete different to this letter. If you are in Arab-countries, you can feel very well, how the Arabs think about this war. I am also young men in Egypt, some young Arabs, they dicided to go to Iraq, to help their brothers and sisters in the war against the States.
Many people in these arabian countries are illiterates - their only news they get from preachers - or in the tea-houses. You can imagine very well, how different their news to our news actually are!
So it is not very advisable to talk US-English in the Middle East - especially in public. All natives say, the Americans are interested in our oil only. US citizens are not very popular - it is dangerous for them, if they would go alone through Cairo, Damaskus or Beirut.
I like to travel, therefore I met many different people - in the 70ies (in my younger years) I met some Vietnam Vets in Greece. Their situation was not funny, they told me. In summary, my impression was or is, they are not proud to be vets. And the US didnt won in Iraq. This is just propaganda - nothing more!

"what kind of vets do you know? Ex Australian army soldiers? Come on, now. We are talking about REAL soldier and not make-believe soldiers!"

And here I am, poiting out that the British and their Commonwealth, including Australia did, unlike some certain other country, fight WWII truly from beginning to end. And in North Africa, unlike the 1st US Armor they actually proved that they could put up a fight.

This is all moot anyway, as Peter´s an AUSTRIAN, not an Australian. Their soldiers are routinely humiliating US soldiers during NATO´s joint exercises, btw.

Hi - I met many vets in my life but nobody was talking such an unrealistic crap. Therefore this letter was written by a person, who had never joined the army and he had never been to the Middle East, I am absolutly sure! Mexico: This "history lesson" is not right (the dates are a bit incorrect), and there are still Indios, who believe in their religion, right now it is a mix between our Christianity and their ancient religion.
I am sorry to say - but this person had never been to Iraq - no way! He had never been to the Middle East at all. You know, I have been a couple of times in islamic countries and the real situation is much more confused. Nearby all muslims believe in the Sharia, this is the islamic law. They are definitely not interested in our western democracy. The reason is simple, because their islamic preachers and many of their politicians say, we have to be proud in our cultur and our religion. Our history and cultur is 5000 years old - it is older as the European civilation or the American history, which is just 3-400 years old.
Of course, there are some christian communities in the Middle East. But they have a hard life right now, Most of them fled to Europe or to the States. These people in Iraq (or all over the Middle East) are absolutly not interested in our cultur or way of life.
But I remember very well, we had the same discussions at the end of the Vietnam War (early 70ies) Many US republicans claimed, South Vietnam needs our democratic constitution. But the reality was different. Most of the South Vietnamese people were actually communists. Just a small number of them admired the States or the western democratic constitution. These handfull of Vietnamese imigrated to the States at the end of the war 1975. Some came a bit later to Europe or to the States (boatpeople).
This person, who had written this articel, he had never been in foreign countries - I am certain of it!
But it is sensless, the STR believe in their unrealistic ideas and they are not able to learn more. They believe in their conservative pastors much more. I mean, I believe in God too - but I am sure and I know for sure, he would never talk such an absolutly crap. Open your eyes and open your ears - and read different newspaper.
