Why do you blame video games?

So true. Some people like fundos or conservative types, should not be playing these games. Almost died trying to be an individual, but theres all there is when apathy is all around and people willing to be themselves are so few.

Why do you blame video games? There are some bad, yes, but there are good ones – I could name some right now, I just don’t want my comment to be deleted for that. I saw films worse then video games – and never heard anyone blaming them. Some books had worse effects on people. Besides, do you know what they’re talking about in streets and schools when you don’t see them? Those who don’t talk about it just hear it – and that’s enough to break. It’s about how strong the kid’s mind is. Some can resist bad influence, others can not. It’s up to parents to make sure that the kid knows difference between “good” and “bad” and realizes that they should not learn from everything they see. It’s up to parents to protect their kids and to teach them to protect themselves. And memorizing Bible will not help, it will just teach the kids to trust what they read without questioning it. Parents should do otherwise – teach their kids to question any information they get, think “what is the purpouse of this statement, what was it made for” – and accept only things that do NOT spawn bad question with bad/no answers. And if you want your kid to read Bible – make him read it this way.

Wow, I just read this article and I’m really disappointed.
Both the game and the parenting contributed to the guy’s arrest. I don’t like the fact that your blaming entirely on the game. Your kid should have known the difference in reality and a fiction world. If he didn’t then he either should not have been playing the game or you should have explained to him the difference in the game and the real world. Just making a suggestion here!!!

I don’t let my kids play this because the language is horrible and the content is a little too adult however I in no way believe that video games “cause people to become killers”. People are already killers. Crappy childhoods and crappy parents cause kids to become killers or to comit suicide. To blame some external thing like music, videos, video games, or movies on crime is totally ignorant. You are barking up the wrong tree. Parental supervision, love, attention, guidance etc. is what this country needs more of. parents today are so self centered and are NOT there for their kids. they dont communicate, they dont care. They are so consumed with themselves and their own problems. Kids are left to raise themselves, even in affluent homes! These same self absorbed parents would rather blame anything but themselves for their child’s behavior. That is just more self-absorbtion. I know plenty of upstanding moral kind hearted loving people who played GTA4 and MW2 as teens. They wouldn’t hurt a fly. So if what you claim is true that why aren’t the millions of teens playing these violent games, not all killers???

wow. bullshit. okay, first, article isnt legit. pic is wrong, so are game details you provided. your “surveys” are biased. i am a 14 year old very dedicated Catholic, and i have this game. i am a gamer, and i own some of the most debated games ever. (gta4, mw2…) i follow God, and still play this game. i absolutely hate pricks like you guys who write about games they know nothing about. the effects of the game depend on the parents. i will never do anything i do in that game.
