Hi Billy – Marihuana and all drugs are pretty dangerous and I tell you why:
Marihuana, that means smoking (also drinking as tea) such herbs and this is known since thousends of years in the Middle East, Southern Asia, Eastern Mediterranean and all over Africa. I remember to the 70ies, I smoked this stuff too. Now, over 30 years ago I still remember to this “strange hallucinations” or other different and sometimes nasty effects like paranoia. In Europe this kind of drugs became popular at the end of the 60ies as an alternative to alcohol. Marihuana and Hash (or hash oil sometimes) is made by Cannabis sativa plants – an asiatic hemp weed. We have hemp weeds in the northern hemisphere as well, but these plants have not the dangerous THC poison. It has the asiatic or african hemp only.
Marihuana can be (is) actually very dangerous!!
This movie is 60 years old and it shows a bit these effects. Very dangerous as well are drugs like Opium Heroin Cocaine (Crack is a kind of Cocaine-smoking), LSD, Amphetamine also known as Speed and the new designer drug Extasy, many different sleeping tabletts and – and (too much) Alcohol as well. Many believe Alcohol and Marihuana are soft drugs – that`s not right. I know very well what I am talking about – I know this stuff!!
I used nearby all kind of drugs in the 70ies and many of my colleagues and fellows died. In younger years your body and your mental health is strong enough (not by everybody, some young guns jumped from a tower, thought they can fly – this is proofen true!!! or they got a depression forever)
Latest you will get the bill 20-40 years later for sure!!
You have to pay for everything in life – this is my life experience!

I had big troubles with all this drugs and alcohol in my younger years. Of course, if you drink a beer or take a sleeping pill one time in a year, this is not dangerous. But some young guns love these effects soo much – they will get addicted. But you don`t know before using, if you will get addicted or not – and this is the Russian Roulette Effect what I mean.

OK I can tell you – I smoked a lot in the 70ies – of course, the beginning is funny – not such an extreme behavior like on this movie – but you are laughing a lot, I agree. You like to eat and the whole world looks phantastic colorful and funny – you feel very free. These are the first effects only!
After some years of smoking it changed. You will get paranoid, depressed – you will get a strange eremite – like some of these old hippies nowadays. I was a hippie as well. But at the end of the 70ies or early 80ies this movement ended and I cut my hair, throwed away all my hippie dress and stuff and my believe to God became stronger as in my childhood. (I was in a convent school, therefore it was not hard for me to find the way back to God again – and I began to go to church again, started to pray again and so on. Of couse, the Bible was (is still) necessary for me).
I was drug addicted for almost 10 years – and this was the hell on earth!!! It began with smoking Grass (Marihuana) and drinking some beer (it was 1973) and ended with Heroin 10 years later. It doesn`t mean, all who smoke Grass will get drug adiccted – this is not right, but the risk is high.
I know some of my old smoking fellows – they became alcoholics for instant. Smoked Marihuana in younger years – they lost their job – had less money, just for alcohol – now they hang around on a Greek island and drink 2-3 bottles of wine a day. They are like me, 55 years old. They didnt found the way back to society or to God again. Now they are too old and they dont want to change their life. As I visited my descedents in Greece 2 months ago, I met one of my old fellows. He is alcoholic now. He don`t works, sit in the sun the whole day and wait, if any tourist will pay him a bottle of wine. This is his life.
Greece has a warm climate, especially on the island – they can life outside all the year. The natives call these old hippies “wilddogs”.
I mean, it was a funny movement 30-40 years ago – but it was just a temporary fashion – and we go many many young hippies from all over the globe – coming to the island of Crete or Myconos. I met a lot of US hippies – they lived for years in Greece – but most of them worked as well. And this was a good way – all these, who were hanging around all day and obtained by begging some money – these people became homeless and godless, sometimes they still take same drugs – but this is their life now. This is not a nice life. –
The faith to God plays a major role to start a good life again.

A very good way to leave drugs behind is to go back to God again. This was my way and it worked well. 30 years later I am still alive, have a wife + 2 boys, found the way back to society again, got a good job in Vienna.
I thank and praise God in many respects!!!!
A constant faith can be very strong – and can change your life rapid. This was my experience. I dont like to talk about this dark side of my younger years. But I want to support this article with my experiences and I agree.

ok ok ok listen the public wants the truth not just some opinionated history lesson. if everyone wanted that then i can tell you that im eighteen years old and i tried or got hooked on every drug and narcotic other than mesculine(a rare narcotic…just couldnt get my hands on it then)…even the seven opiates (didnt know there was seven huh? well the chinese love there drugs) and i overdosed twice in one night on six grams of cocaine and died for two and a half minutes…dont ask i didnt see any light i remember passing out and waking up two days later with my body numb. Yes there all…let me rephrase AALLLL bad…there drugs…but you know what? marihuana is not…for something to be a drug it has to be chemically enginered and it has to be addictive. currently there is no substance in weed that is addictive or been chemically enginered. its not dangerous unless you lace it with something dangerous…there is no possible way for any long term damage or fatal damage happen toyou with weed. look it up. now i have a 3.8 gpa two full scholarships and im the top percent of my senior class…and i smoke it constantly. im not afraid to admit it. if it wasnt for weed and a determination to change…id be in a grave because of the harmful drugs i did…..it isnt a doorway drug…its something to be happy with so you dont want to try the other things. peace brother…why fight roll it tight

@Peter, Marijuana doesn’t make one paranoid! Paranoia would be thinking your saintly mother is putting arsenic in your food or your best friend since childhood is plotting to murder you or trash your reputation for no reason! In other words,irrational fears of murderous plots against you or persecution! Worrying that the cops might arrest you,steal your property (asset forfeiture),ruin your life with imprisonment and a criminal record are logical fears! I haven’t smoked pot in many years because I’d get uptight about getting busted due to the War on Some Drugs which is hardly “paranoia”! Pot never gave me depression! When I was a young man getting laid off from jobs,unemployed spells,lack of money,my mother’s untimely death at age 45 from a heart attack,those things depressed me! Who has hallucinations from marijuana? Other than the unfortunate victim of an Angel Dust laced joint,no one I’ve ever known! I dropped Acid a few times in the mid 80’s and the stuff in the US back then was so weak,I didn’t have even one hallucination! As a former pothead in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s who’s tried Hashish and LSD I’m supposed to believe you hallucinated on weed? What have you been smoking? LOL And THC isn’t “poison” (toxic) except in isolation! Synthetic THC (Marinol) has dangerous side effects,but it isn’t made from Marijuana! Marijuana is a medicinal herb that has been used safely for thousands of years! Before the “Reefer Madness” hysteria of the 30’s and the government disinformation that continues to this day, Marijuana was in the US Pharmacopeia! It’s the most benign mood altering substance on the planet and should be legalized! If my dad had been a pothead instead of an alcoholic,he’d probably still be alive and my parents wouldn’t have divorced when I was a child (he beat her when he was drunk)!
