Really, to think something like the death of the creator of a game?

Just to show some examples of why I state he is a man… Irenaeus the Bibles Editor (If you don’t believe me ask your church leader on who this man was, if he doesn’t know, go on the internet and read history) is best known for seperation of the New Testament Gospels. While keeping Mark, Mathew, Luke and John, it was quickly theorized that there were more gospels than these four. IE: Gospel of Mary, Gospel of Judas as two examples. Jews were the basis for old testament faith, and God. So lets look at this all Christianity basically came from Jews. Alright so… Do the Jews believe Jesus was the Messiah? The very quick answer is NO.

Alright but then you’re going to go on a tirade of biblical proportions from the introduction of this. So lets snip this at the head. According to you God is all Good, God is all Knowing, God is omnipresent, and he has divine plan. Alright God is all good… Uh huh WHO CREATED EVERYTHING? This includes good and evil… If you’re saying there are no other gods, then it all comes back to… YOU GOT IT! GOD! God created the heavens and earth, God created the garden of Eden, God created all the animals and planets, God created man and woman and thus man and woman ate of the fruit only after being tempted by the serpent… Alright… Who created the serpent? Who put the forbidden fruit in the garden? GOD. Who created Lucifer? GOD. Who created everything in your universe? GOD. So when you condemn a man like Gary Gygax to hell, just remember who set you on your path to doing so… GOD.

Oh and just to prove that there are other Gods… Why does your bible admit it? Oh wait… Why does your God admit it? i really think you need to do some research before you post: research from primary sources and reputable secondary ones. you appear to have posted gossip and wishful thinking. it is intellectually dishonest to do otherwise.

Oh, sorry, heh, just needed to, ha, gather myself. Heh heh. Wow, again, sorry, I just found this “article” (although, to be fair, articles are based on fact and deliver fact, so I guess article is not the word I’m looking for) so friggin’ hilarious. I mean, really? “Gary Gygax is dead… Jesus wins again” So now Jesus is killing people because he disagrees with what they do?

Maybe whoever wrote this hilarious and obviously intentionally sarcastic story should read the bible again. No wonder the author never put their name to it, they would be the laughing stock of, well, everyone. I mean, first off, did Jesus really come back to earth, risking the rapture just to kill one man? And if not, how do we know it was Jesus? Does he side-line as the Grim Reaper on his days off? And if so, then he’s responsible for the death of every saint, every baby, every pope, Mother Theresa!! etc.

Right from the first paragraph anyone could tell that this “article” was a joke. Just check the language used; “famous pandemic of suicide,” “conspired.” Quickly followed by the picture stating “Jesus wins again!” implying that not only did Jesus want him dead (which Jesus would never want, again, read the bible) but he actively sought Gary’s death (again, Jesus would not seek out such a thing, you folks REALLY need to read the bible and stop putting your own words into Jesus’ mouth).

Anyway, moving on, RPG’s have existed for much longer than this article states, after all, D&D (that’s nerd-speeak for Dungeons and Dragons) was inspired by a table-top game (again, nerd-speeak for a game played on a table top) developed centuries ago. This game was a giant battlefield and each person had an army, yadda yadda yadda… my point being, do the research and get your facts straight. Still, moving on, within D&D the emphasis is on righting wrongs, protecting innocents and helping each other. In fact, there is even a cleric who is required to do good otherwise s/he loses all his/her powers.

Which leads me to the link to the comic you have. I think I might have peed myself a little reading that. Not from fear (well, fear of the ignorance that spawned that comic) but from laughing so hard.

But let’s be serious here for a moment; yes, some people take the game too seriously and have hurt themselves or others. But wait, what happened in the Dark Ages? Didn’t Christians torture and kill men, women and children because they twisted their role as spiritual saviors into something that more closely resembled Satan’s army? And let’s not dismiss the fact that compared to the Dark Ages, the deaths and injuries that have happened because of imbalanced people taking D&D too seriously is practically negligible.

Also, I have read nearly every D&D manual, player’s guide, novel and played nearly every game with a HUGE variety of people (including the clergy) and have not once ever found anything even close to “a satanism-and-suicide how-to manual.”

I’m going to skip Marylon Manson because, really, all your “facts” are wrong and idiotic. Sorry, I call it as it is (not as I see it).

How about the gender-bending? I will not deny that men and women play as the opposite sex. I will however, point out that it wasn’t until the late 1700′s, early 1800′s that women were not allowed to be on the stage and that men played the part of women. Yes, even, especially, in church sanctioned plays. So what am I getting at? If you can’t figure it out, please, write another hilarious, lie-riddled and completely inaccurate article.

D&D has brought friends and families together throughout history.

But seriously. Not only was D&D ever linked to suicide in a normal person (paranoid schizophrenics not included. They’ll kill themselves over jesus too), but it was also never linked to devil worship or satanism. So what -has- it been linked to?

Ignorant Christians who don’t actually read the Bible, but instead misquote scripture to suit their own needs. Also known as Republicans.

D&D helped me with my math in elementary and middle school. It helped me save money by not going out and not become an alcoholic or become promiscuous in high school like so many of my “good Christian” friends. It also taught me critical thinking and helped me to become an outgoing person. I’ve never, in 30 years of gaming, seen a game devolve the way you claim. Not only do I think you’re ignorant AND are obviously a liar, it seems that, based on some of your comments, you’re also a bigot.

I hope you will pray for clarity and that you will find truth, realizing your ignorance and misplaced hatred. Gary Gygax was nothing more than a brilliant man, not some nefarious demon trying to corrupt our youth.

I knew Gary very well, and I think it’s awful that this is here. Both he and his wife were great people, and should not be shamed in this way.
