Great report on that cesspool of naziism and depravity Mr. Neck! Thats the kind of stuff we would be seeing on 60 Minutes if the mass media wasnt controlled by commies and radicals and homos. I wouldnt trade that whole country for our little mostly Christian town down here in Texas. I sort of understand why that Proud German guy is so goofy from living in a place like that. I knew those Starbucks people were up to no good too. Only a sissie or a lie-bral would pay $4 for a cup of coffee. Thank you Jesus that there aint none of those yuppie lie-bral places down here and there aint going to be if I have anything to say about it.

    notausgang – Emergency Exit
the ‘work will set you free’ sign does not read, ‘work will set you free’ plus, that is not Auchwitz.

–Knowing you Sedge, you so would. Its like your dream.

“I sort of understand why that Proud German guy is so goofy from living in a place like that.”
–he certainly makes more sense than you ever do

“I knew those Starbucks people were up to no good too. Only a sissie or a lie-bral would pay $4 for a cup of coffee.”
–besides the fact that being a sissie or a liberal has nothing to do with it, this may be the one thing i can agree with you on.

“Thank you Jesus that there aint none of those yuppie lie-bral places down here and there aint going to be if I have anything to say about it.”
–what are you going to do, kill them? you don’t have the will to do so. very few do, and i highly doubt you have the capability to watch a person die

    1. Nice evasion off the law here, you criminal.

    2. The Brandenburg gate is what you could briefly see on the right side behind that tent. Besides, ROnald Reagan would not have been able to “kick the commies asses” from there, because it was part of East Berlin.

    3. No, what?Ǭ¥s left of the Wall isn?Ǭ¥t anywhere near the Brandenburg Gate, all the parts off the wall there have been demolished a long time ago. To see some remains, you?Ǭ¥d have to get near the Palace of the People?Ǭ¥s Republic (aka Erich?Ǭ¥s Lampenladen) or to Checkpoint Charlie.

    4. That?Ǭ¥s no park, that?Ǭ¥s a way. And it looks so desolate due to the fact that we have winter.

    5. That what would look like the Brandenburg Gate is the Brandenburg Gate. (Doh!)

    6. Gang is the german word for corridor. Though in this case, the word?Ǭ¥s Notausgang, which means emergency exit.

    7. That?Ǭ¥s a bunch of mobile toilets. The kind that?Ǭ¥s mostly used on construction sites.

    8. Looking at Kennedy?Ǭ¥s famous speech in Berlin, no wonder he?Ǭ¥s got a museum.

    9. No, that?Ǭ¥s not “work will make you free”. That sign?Ǭ¥s an add, reading “no one should miss Hessia”. Or something in that direction, sometimes direct translations are somewhat hard to do.

    10. There are enough other non-sinful entertainments in Berlin. Why don?Ǭ¥t you just take a cruise over the river Spree, for example?

    11. You missed the churches. Especially the Remembrance Church would have been worth visiting. It?Ǭ¥s a “living” memorial to WWII, the church?Ǭ¥s damage sustained in WWII has not been repaired since then to show what war means.

Otherwise, you have picked the wrong season altogether. Berlin is a much more lively place in spring and summer, especially when there?Ǭ¥s good weather. And you missed some of the highlights, too. Hell, not even the christmas market was covered!

“I sort of understand why that Proud German guy is so goofy from living in a place like that. ”

I like my country, just for the record. Best place on this planet imo.

I do live in Germany. But not anywhere near Berlin, but rather in the deep south of bavaria. I cna see the Alps from my living room window.

“mass media wasnt controlled by commies”

I doubt China or North Korea is controlling your media

“I wouldnt trade that whole country for our little mostly Christian town down here in Texas.”

Good thing too, or WW3 would be inevitable (but then, with the oil crisis, the Y generation and their children will probably have to go through it anyway)

“I sort of understand why that Proud German guy is so goofy from living in a place like that.”

You calling someone “goofy” is like GWB calling someone a lying prick.

“Only a sissie or a lie-bral would pay $4 for a cup of coffee.”

Will someone please explain to me what that has to do with the article?

“I cna see the Alps from my living room window.”

How mad, all I’ve got is a view of my disfunctional next door neighbours (sigh)

  6. Sen January 2nd, 2008 7:04 PM

1.When you showed the tent – the thing next to it in the background IS the Brandenburg Gate.
    2. Notausgang means emergency exit.
    3. The male figure on the moveable toilet really was strange. Usually they are depicted the normal way – with their legs in a straight line. Probably a joke of the company.
    4. I didn’t know Berlin had a Kennedy museum, but having Starbucks right next to it is not unsual. I bet ten yards farther down the street they also had a McDonalds or a Burger King or Subways.
    5. You visited Berlin in freaking winter, that’s why that one walkway looked like crap. And this was not a park.
    6. Berlin is not too beautiful a town anyway. And I say that being German and having visited Berlin twice already.

God or Lucifer or whoever bless all those equipped with brains!

“6. Berlin is not too beautiful a town anyway. And I say that being German and having visited Berlin twice already.”

Aye, some of it is spectacular and really worth the visit (hell, Billy Bob just managed to miss almost all the sights even though they?Ǭ¥d have been easily to reach from the Gate in under 30 minutes due to the subways and buses.), but compared to Cologne, Munich or N?ɬºrnberg, Berlin does somewhat pale. Hell, N?ɬºrnberg would have been ideal to that time of the year, the christmas market is absolutely fantastical.

But I still shudder at what?Ǭ¥d have happened if there had been some formality including the Guards Battaillon when he was around. He?Ǭ¥d probably almost got a hearth attack from the sight of those “nazis”. :)

Hell no, the Wachbattaillon, IE guards battaillon of the Bundeswehr is something differrent. They consist of soldiers from Army, Navy and Air Force and form the silent drill team/parade unit of our armed forces. They?Ǭ¥re for example the honor guard for foreign presidents

(And as a second assignment: They?Ǭ¥re the bodyguard of the highest government officials in a time of war.)

Hell, I?Ǭ¥ll just post some youtube links.

All that?Ǭ¥s left to say to this topic: Semper Talis!
And by now it should be obvious why I?Ǭ¥m dreaded by the prospect of BBN commenting on such a sight. ;)

Uhm, if Im not mistaken (your camera is crap) that did not say “Work will make you free”. Pretty much the only place that that phrase can be seen is at the opening gates of Auschwitz. And billy, I oh so wish I could switch places with you, I’d love to go to Germany, it’s on my list of places to see before I die along with Russia, Greece, and Japan.

–wow. name the exact places i want to go

    Billy,

have you forgotten the fact that your beloved Protestant Christian religion was actually founded in ‘Germ-land’? Without Martin Luther you would probably still be a Catholic.

@lynn: Oh, and having visited Germany several times when the country was still split in two makes you the expert on modern day Germany, hm? For the pity of it all, it’s been almost 20 years since the GDR fell! You’d be amazed how much American-like Germany has become over the last years. You now, big monopolisitc junk food companies everywhere, a data privacy system that doesn’t even deserve the term privacy, buying frenzy and a growing gap between the poor and well-to-do are just what people here were hoping for.

@Thomas: You are so right. Thank you very much.

  17. Proud german January 3rd, 2008 9:19 PM

Well, lynnie, too bad that that motto is originally coming from the guard of king Friedrich Willhelm I. of Prussia, was coninued till 1918 and then newly adopted 1957. I think you owe someone an apology.

Besides, trying to copy and paste articles and then present them as your own experiences makes you appear as a liar, so refrain from it, comprende?

That “excerpt” is from an old article anyone can find with some google-fu.

    Now get lost, little troll.

So you visited us here in germany and I must say you ran throu Berlin like a blind. How could you miss something so big as the Brandenburger gate? That?Ǭ¥s like visiting New York and overseeing the Statue of Liberty.
And you have to really small parks, in the city you live because you couldn?Ǭ¥t seperate an alley from a park.
Oh I could go on but proud german have said everything to your littel clip.

@Lynn your last articel is nice, but it said nothing else than that there is an trdition in guarding the head of the state.
They have nothing to do with your SS-friend.
And what is with those half million of germans, you got in your calculation? One of your post says that an rumanien native has joined the ss too, so that it is not necessarily that all members of the SS were germans.

So for now it is enough what I have said.
Think about it and pray that he will give you mercy and more brain

“Well, Proud Kraut- I didn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t make up any of it- double-dunce. The SS Guard Batallions were just that WachBattalions. They were thousands of them. The entire SS was judged an illegal criminal organization based on the Wachbattalions!

Google all you like- that recollection was written by me as a request from a friend (couple of years ago)- It is part of an entire book on my recollections- only part of which deals with my experience for 18 months working with a known war criminal in Germany- he got away in 1960 and died in Argentina.

I think you owe the apologies you dumbass Nazi defender.”

I think you?Ǭ¥re a lying sack of ****. Now get lost, faker.
If you?Ǭ¥re a book author, I?Ǭ¥m Jesus reborn.

The german text you brought up just stated that an ordinary infantry regiment took over the motto during WWII. I can?Ǭ¥t remember them being bodyguard for the head of state, though…
Kept the motto alive, but not the tradition, these guys. ANd hardly a “nazi” unit, they were mostly old guard, lots of nobles. Hell, one of the most notorious personalities of IR 9 was Henning von Treskow. Google it up.

    Dude, that’s just dumb.

Do the whole world a favor and start praying for a brain and don’t you stop until you have it. Your comments on Germany are retarded, the sign with the word “gang” in it reads “emergency exit” and the dixie-figures (on the dixie-toilets) are a man and a woman that need to urinate, that is why the man is standing with his legs crossed and the woman with her hands in front of her… well you know.

And museum “the Kennedy” isn’t about Kennedy. It’s just the name of a museum, and museums are sponsored by the government, not by Starbucks coffee.

And that last sign doesn’t read “work will make you free,” it looks nothing like the nazi slogan “Arbeit Macht Frei” so that’s another lunacy from your simple mind.

Stop corrupting our world with your filthy tongue.

  22. Sen January 7th, 2008 2:18 PM

@lynn long: We are not saying it didn’t happen. We are merely saying that Germany has changed. Of course many Germans belonged to the NSDAP. Whether my grandfathers did, I do not know, since they both died years ago, but I can certainly tell you that TODAY – and we are talking about today – the people voting for nowadays right-wing-extremists parties are a minority. How do I know: Because they DO vote when they get the chance, but even when half the non-extremists don’t vote they are still well below 10%.

Oh and in case you wonder why we are sick and tired of discussing the topic: WW 2 is a huge deal in most schools here in grade nine, ten, eleven AND twelve. Those are four years in which you are taught to shed off any patriotic feelings for a country that TODAY belongs to the internationally most peaceful and environmentally aware countries (plus a country with a fabulous history of art and science). We ARE neither allowed to be proud nor to make any comment that could in the least be considered racist, or else we would be called Nazis again, even though we are not. Wonderful stamp our oh-so-great “saviours” from the 40s put onto us. Really great.

Bottom line: We all know what happened, the vast majority is sorry and the vast majority agrees never to let something like early 40s Germany happen again. But as the saying goes: Those who do nothing but dwell in the past, don’t have a future.

God or Lucifer or whoever bless all those equipped with brains!
    Sen

  23. Sen January 8th, 2008 12:53 PM

@lynn long: You don’t want to get my point, do you? The majority of people is SORRY for what happened (meaning WW II in total). Look up voting polls, for the mercy of it all. I don’t know about older generations, but those who are now below the age of 35 certainly are fed up with all the Nazi crap (and I mean both Nazis themselves, as well as the accusation that they are ones)

As for the GDR: Yes, I agree that it was hardly better than Nazi Germany. That’s why it eventually came to fall. Any totalitary regime is s*** (by the way, the USA are heading there pretty nicely)

Now I know that you will come and try to tell me that it is oh-so different and that I’m completely wrong and that I need Gods help and what not. Go ahead. God, you, Shelley, BBN and all the over hateful folk here at STR are starting to bore me with your litany. Go and kiss certain parts of my body that I won’t mention here.

Finally! I have long known the state of depravity my fellow countrymen have fallen into. It has been long since good, god-fearing, immigrant-hating, our-military-supporting people were the majority here. But every time I hear Americans talk about Germany, they treat it like it was a real country, instead of that gay-loving, dhimmi atheist peacenik cesspool. It’s sure nice to see there are still normal people over there. And excuse my fellow (sic!) countrymen in this thread, they seem to have caught the lie-bral gay dhimmycrat disease, I think it went airborne now.
