Huckabee: The courage to stand up for Jesus

Mike’s just done something that no other candidate in the history of America has ever had the courage to do: He called what liberals refer to as the “Holiday Season” by it’s real God-given name: Christmas.

I think this is going to prove to be one of the strongest messages in the 2008 Presidential campaign – Mike has firmly declared that he is going to make opposing the war on Christmas every bit as important as the war on Terror, and we at Shelley The Republican agree.

I personally think that the GOP nomination is going to the candidate who’s prepared to speak out for Jesus Christ the most – and not get this campaign get dragged down by mundane issues like the economy or defense.

If I were a betting man I would put my money on Huckabee.

It *is* the Holiday Season… there’s more than one religion out there. Christmas is just *one* of the holidays celebrated this time of year.

I think, or rather hope, his heart’s in the right place in the message, though it *does* strike me as a bit insensitive… I’m usually one to rant about how if I say ‘Merry X-mas!’ rather than getting an offended lecture I’d, happily, rather ‘Happy Hanukkah’ in return, but, running a campaign, it seems a little on sided and favourite choosing to me.

Oh, and I *am* still alive, just been wicked busy with work,

What on earth can pubs in Iowa be thinking? If Huckabee gets the nomination, it will only assure that the Republican candidate will lose to almost any Dem who runs.

The religious right wants one of their own. Well, they’ve had one of their own for eight years and look at the shape this contry is in.

This time of year is called the holiday season because there is more than 1 holiday being celebrated.

“Mike has firmly declared that he is going to make opposing the war on Christmas every bit as important as the war on Terror”

In other words, not very important at all, but, wtf is the “war on Christmas”? Are you on drugs?

“I personally think that the GOP nomination is going to the candidate who?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s prepared to speak out for Jesus Christ the most – and not get this campaign get dragged down by mundane issues like the economy or defense.”

I personally think that you’re full of shit. The voters with brains aren’t going to give a rat’s ass about how much each candidate talks about Jesus.

    Is it already election time?
Or why are you suddenly only bringing up articles about the elections. It?Ǭ¥s not as if there isn?Ǭ¥t quite a lot else happeing world-wide, after all.

That being said, the republican candidate doesn?Ǭ¥t really interest me. After FUBAR George, the dems will have a field day anyway.

And when it comes to that name-calling-crap, I?Ǭ¥d say: Let it call anyone how he likes to call it. Period.
And stop the debating and painting yourself as victims, crybabies.

“I personally think that the GOP nomination is going to the candidate who?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s prepared to speak out for Jesus Christ the most – and not get this campaign get dragged down by mundane issues like the economy or defense.”

Good for the rest of the world, then. Perhaps finally some USA that don?Ǭ¥t screw up things outside their country.

“Christmas” is it’s God given name? The word is nowhere in the Bible. The word “Christmas” is a phonetic corruption of “Christ’s Mass”,a Catholic phrase. Some fundamentalists refuse to celebrate Christmas for the previously stated reasons, there’s no commandment in the Bible to celebrate Christ’s birth as a holy day,nor does the Bible say He was born on December 25th and due to the holiday’s ancient roots in pagan winter solstice festivals. As for my opinion, celebrate Christmas or not however or whenever you want! Call it what you want and let others call it what they want! Quit whining about it already! Anyway,Here’s the history of Christmas: http://www.benbest.com/history/xmas.html

Whats with the DR. Billy bob neck thing. He doesn’t have a Doctorate, he didn’t even get through High School.
And even if he did, he still fights for STR, which by association, means your stupid.

Guess where the Christmas tree tradition came from. The pagans! the same people who brought you the pentagram and nature loving (sort of)
So, if you attack one pagan ritual you should attack them all, I order you to assault Christmas trees. If you don’t you will lose you credibility, Oh wait, you never had any! My Bad!

Abbie, you’re right. Most pagan rituals were co-opted by the Church early on in order to attract people to the faith, and because they simply couldn’t get people to abandon their celebrations.

Fact is, the Church simply decided to designate the 25th of December as Christ’s Mass in an attempt to replace the annual year’s end festivals which pagan faiths already celebrated. Most Christmas traditions go back long before the establishment of Christianity throughout Europe.

Christmas isn’t even the worst as far ask copycatting goes. Easter is the worst. The name (derived from Eostara or Ostara) and the Easter eggs. Omg. Hello? Pagan fertility festival!

I will admit though, I love you guys. Whenever I want a good laugh I come here, I know that’s why you guys publish this. One question though–why bother taking down the note about this being a satirical blog?

It’s more interesting when it’s up in the air Paprgrl… it shows the best and worst of both sides, but unfortunately it opens the doorway to the crazies that believe with, and agree with, everything STR says.

Sadly there *are* people like this out there, we all have to deal with them sooner or later,
