In the vast overwhelming majority of states that have passed "shall issue" laws that make it fairly easy to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon, violent crime rates (eg rape) have gone down, sometimes dramatically. In virtually no case was there a huge increase in murders etc. So, just to summarize, in the almost 40 states that have relaxed gun their gun laws to make it easier to own and carry a gun, violent crime rates almost universally went down. In virtually every state where the new carry laws were proposed, the anti-gun folks predicted blood running in the streets, just as many of you suggest. It never happened.
