Thought of the Day – 6 : The Prayer Task Force
Dear Readers
Today I want to talk about the importance of prayers. We live in a Christian society (thank God). That is why we have the freedoms we have. Clearly: God is on our side. We have the privilege of living in God’s chosen country.
There is nothing wrong with praying alone and for yourself only, but praying with others is an extremely powerful and rewarding experience. I realize this every time when I come together with Barbara for our weekly prayer session. I urge you to join one of the many prayer communities. If you want to find more information about organized praying or find an event close to you, please visit the “National Day of Prayer Task Force” website.
Let me close this Thought of the day with one of my own personal prayers.
Thanks you for all the good you do on earth.
Thank you for keeping the gates to heaven open for thoses who love you and the gates of hell open for those who hate America.
Please help the sinners to find the path to righteousness, please help find Europeans to find the path to the American way of life, please help find Muslims to find your son Jesus Christ, please convert gays away from their perverted lifestyle.
Thank you Lord.

Thank you shelley – God wants us to pray together. That’s why people were created: To serve God and spread Christ’s good news. I know this prayer has helped turn evil liberals back to Christ.
I’m french and I’m not christian. BUT many members of my family are christians. So I wondered if you could stop mixing all up.
There are christians, but they don’t want to find the American way of life. And we think God doesn’t care. There’s no “God’s chosen country”. Or maybe do I misunderstand the meaning of that.
But for me, God loves everybody, and the gates of Heaven are open for those who believe in him, nevermind if they come from USA, Europe, Asia or Africa.
And by the way, the muslims believe in the same God than christians. The different is that they believe that Jesus wasn’t the son of God, but only a prophet. And as a prophet, he is very respected by muslims.

That’s correct. God also allows us other interesting things. As he states it:
“If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as menservants do. If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself, he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, because he has broken faith with her.” (Exodus 21:7-8)

I’d like to remember you something, Sam Johnston.
Who wrote The Holy Bible ? Men.
They tried to write down the words of God, but as every men, they have their own failures. So they might have written some things wrong.
Also, the Bible you read is not the original Bible, it is a translation (and more likely a translation of a translation, maybe more).
So many things have been modified in this translation, as it is very difficult to translate something exactly (and should I remember everyone that at the time they translated the first Bibles, paper was very expensive, so the translator may not have translated quite accurately).
So, to write it short, you read the words written by someone who didn’t accurately translate something from someone who may not have written the exact Truth.
Did you ever think that God wanted you to think by yourself about right or wrong ?
I believe the Bible gives you guidelines to follow, but always remember it was written by not perfect humans.
The truth is that groups religious fanatics, like Al-Qaeda or the extreme right wing Christians of the US (like the authors of STR claim to be) are possibly the most dangerous evil that we have today. As sane people, it is our task to show those misdirected souls, how much pain their hate causes and help them to become normal, sane people, who do not spread hate and fascist discrimination (like STR does, too – even if it’s just for fun).
I wonder, I really do, what those of you who confess to being ‘rednecks’ would think of Jesus Christ were he to return today. You’d probably lynch him for being a long-haired, hippy liberal. I wonder also what he would think of your brand of ‘Christianity’. Not a lot, methinks.

I seem to remember that somewhere in the New Testament (Corinthians, maybe) it was said that prayer should be confined to the privacy of your home, and not anounced to the public as the hypocrites do (it was something along those lines.)
I also remember that prayers should be as brief as possible, because God already knows what you are about to pray for.

In reference to whoever posted that idiotic statistic about the US and Japan, please look it up first. The US is the most debt heavy country in the world because we have a buy first ask questions later policy. However, because people have so much personal disposable income, and spend it willingly, our economy can handle the debt we take on easily. A country’s worth is measured in its GDP, not the money in the bank. And the US still has the highest, although China is catching up.

Well, American soldiers don’t torture, at worst, they deal out justice with compassion and restraint. However, the Bible is pretty clear on how to treat your enemy:
