You are calling old people as blood sucking vampires. It is shameful on your part. You cannot blame them who have given you life.I don't know why the hell you feel like that.I pray to the almighty that you should realise importance of elderly in our lives.May some day you grow so old and weak and then let your successors call you vampire then I'll ask you how you feel.

"These old people want to stop our just wars. Presumably because they hope that that way more taxpayers money will go to them. Shameful!"

It is YOU who should be ashamed!! How dare you criticize these old people!! They seem much more intelligent than you are!! At least, THEY have understood that a war is never "just". There are always innocent people killed. You are just a fanatic, intolerant and stupid man... I feel pity for people like you...

Well, if you want to consider your six verses as contradictions to my 25 verses, that is your interpretation, not mine.

Besides, Deuteronomy 28:48 says that poverty is a possible punishment, not the only punishment, nor an automatic punishment. 1 Samuel 2:7 says that the Lord sends both poverty and wealth (but doesn't describe either as a punishment). Leviticus 19:15 would seem to fit my interpretation more than it fits yours. Deuteronomy 15:4 was pretty conditional upon the Israelites following God in the Promised Land, which they didn't (and in case you didn't notice, the United States is not the Biblical "promised land").

Of course, if you remember, Job was "punished" with poverty and he didn't do anything wrong.

And none of your verses were from the New Testament, which means that you aren't following the teaching of Christ (that is something of a requirement for being a Christian, afterall... people who only follow the Old Testament are Jewish, not Christian), whereas five of my verses were quotes from Jesus.

Here are a few verses which I think prove you wrong, also from NIV:

"There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land." Deuteronomy 15:11

"I know that the LORD secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy." Psalms 140:12

"He who mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished." Proverbs 17:9

"If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered." Proverbs 21:13

"Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all." Proverbs 22:2

"The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern." Proverbs 29:7

"Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy" Proverbs 31:9

"She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy." Proverbs 31:20

"What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?" declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty." Isaiah 3:15

"Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless. " Isaiah 10:1-2

"The scoundrel's methods are wicked, he makes up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just." Isaiah 32:7

"He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?" declares the LORD." Jeremiah 22:16

"Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy." Ezekiel 16:49

"You trample on the poor and force him to give you grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine." Amos 5:12

"Hear this, you who trample the needy and do away with the poor of the land... The LORD has sworn by the Pride of Jacob: "I will never forget anything they have done." Amos 8: 4, 7

"This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each other.'" Zechariah 7:9-10

"Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God." Luke 6:20

"But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."" Luke 14:13-14

"When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."" Luke 18:22

"But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount." Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham." Luke 19:8-9

"For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem." Romans 15:26

"If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:3

"...sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything." 2 Corithians 6:10

"Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, "Here's a good seat for you," but say to the poor man, "You stand there" or "Sit on the floor by my feet," have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to whom you belong? If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it." James 2:2-10

"You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked." Revelation 3:17

Well then Jason,

Let's start with the poor:

Deuteronomy 28:48 (New International Version)

New International Version (NIV)
Copyright ?Ǭ¨?Ǭ© 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society

48 therefore in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and dire poverty, you will serve the enemies the LORD sends against you. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.

1 Samuel 2:7 (New International Version)
   The LORD sends poverty and wealth;
       he humbles and he exalts.

Proverbs 6:11 (New International Versio)
11 and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man..

Proverbs 14:23 (New International Version)
All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Leviticus 19:15
" 'Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly."

Deuteronomy 15:4
However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you,"

These are just a sample of the quotes that prove poverty is the Lord's judgement for evil-doers.

These are just a sample of the quotes that prove poverty is the Lord’s judgement for evil-doers.

Well, 10 days have passed since my challenge in post 57. I will give you another 4 days (that will be July 27, a grand total of two weeks from the initial challenge) and then I will withdraw my challenge. But for such "knowledgable" "Christians" such as yourselves, this challenge should be a piece of cake.

For simplicities sake, I will repeat the challenge:

"Where is the justification, from the Bible (the Christian Bible, that is, not whatever satanic book you seem to follow), for throwing people out into the streets to die? I submit that is a purely political viewpoint, not even close to a Christian point of view. But if you can prove me wrong on this one issue, I will be happy to write a complete and full retraction on everything I have said in every post I have made on this site. But you need to supply me with verses to back up your point before I will concede, preferably with at least some verses from the New Testament."

Another day has passed and nobody has risen to the challenge in post 57. Of course, based on the current article about how Song of Soloman was somehow mysteriously added to the Bible by liberals and was only recently "discovered" makes me think that I am not going to get a Biblical response since it is clear that the people writing for this site have no idea what the Bible actually says. But I will keep counting.
