Besides, Deuteronomy 28:48 says that poverty is a possible punishment, not the only punishment, nor an automatic punishment. 1 Samuel 2:7 says that the Lord sends both poverty and wealth (but doesn’t describe either as a punishment). Leviticus 19:15 would seem to fit my interpretation more than it fits yours. Deuteronomy 15:4 was pretty conditional upon the Israelites following God in the Promised Land, which they didn’t (and in case you didn’t notice, the United States is not the Biblical “promised land”).

Of course, if you remember, Job was “punished” with poverty and he didn’t do anything wrong.

And none of your verses were from the New Testament, which means that you aren’t following the teaching of Christ (that is something of a requirement for being a Christian, afterall… people who only follow the Old Testament are Jewish, not Christian), whereas five of my verses were quotes from Jesus.

I hope you aren’t inferring that the Bible contains contradictions! That is the path to hell or athiesm!
