Thought of the Day – 4 : I support my country 100%… why cant the liberals do the same?

Shelley,

Can somebody please explain to me why the liberals hate our troops? Why is it that the liberals do their best to trash-talk the brave fighting men who risk their lives for world freedom. Why must they concoct fake news with the intent to harm our troop’s morale? I’m talking of course about the outrageous, unfounded and scandalous allegations surrounding events that may have taken place in an Iraqui town called Haditha.

IwoJima_flag.jpg
US Troops : Symbol of Freedom and Justice : No other force in the history of mankind was more effective to advance freedom and democracy as the US Army!

Once again, the liberal bias in the news is all too obvious. Liberals expect us to believe that a rogue platoon of marines massacred an unarmed iraqui family. Their evidence: Unclear photos, and the usual anonymous sources. It’s hardly surprising that the so-called evidence has already been widely debunked by mainstream news sources like Michelle Malkin and Bill Oreilly. The out of control liberal media hardly cares that the story is completely unfounded. Fortunately for us, the American people have passed their verdict on this story.

It’s time to remind the unpatriotic news-men that we are at war. In war, bad things sometimes happen. We are fighting for our freedoms, and to protect the freedoms of countless other nations. Surely this is a noble cause and one worth supporting? Is it too much to ask media to support the good guys?

I am afraid you are taking this completely the wrong way. The US holds its fighting troops to the highest standards. Investigating the actions of a rouge paltoon and punishing troops that did not operate the within the rules is what makes the US great. It is what gives the US more “moral authority” then the enemy they are fighting.

Ignoring this news, preventing an investigation, covering up any truth the matter weakens the position of the US. If the US believes that is morally superior to it enemies it must be held to higher standards. This includes public examination of inappropriate behavior. This is what a free society is about.

You look at this see people who are unpatriotic, I see people who are doing their duty.

My return question to you is simple: don’t the American people deserve to know that each and every one of their soliders are being held to highest standards of moral behavior? Is not the best way to ensure this to bring any allegations before public scrunity and answer them in a transparent process?

I would say that should you not answer “yes” to both of those questions then you would lack the “moral authority” to question the actions of the enemies of the US as well.

Irakian don’t like your troops because there intervention have killed to much civilian (100.000 -estimation-), and because they have bring a lot of problems ( destruction of the infrastructures, civil war…).
So for irakian people, your troops are occupating there country like the nazi have occupate France during the WW2.

This war were losted before she have been started. When European country have say that, USA have ignored that. That’s why they have so much problems now.

Also : stop say it’s a ‘war for freedom’ : when you see that GWB have lie to permit this war, and when you see what the US army do in Guantanamo or Abou Ghraib, you can say it’s a ‘war for liberty’

“There were problems in Kilo Company with drugs, alcohol, hazing, you name it,” said the woman unidentified by Newsweek. “I think it’s more than possible that these guys were totally tweaked out on speed or something when they shot those civilians in Haditha”

quote from the wife of of a marine sgt of kilo-company, the company in haditha

    - No other force in the history of mankind was more effective to advance freedom and democracy as the US Army – Totally True! The last army that tried and failed was that of the 3rd Reich. Surely the US have learned from the mistakes the Germans made, and will go one better. Freedom for all!

Even French left-wing satirical singers hold the American soldiers in affection : the American soldier is “le brave soldat Ricain”.
Saying it’s false news from people hating your troops is burying your head in sand.

Not funny one at all, boooo, try harder, your Linux/wife-beaters good americans/awful european countries are better.

  6. Where's the problem June 11th, 2006 6:31 AM

I’m afraid that your “great” troops are not perceived as the good guys this time. And not just by the inhabitants of the occupied territory.

Your leaders fabricated the evidence that Iraq owns WMD and ballistic missiles, and is connected with people they labelled terrorists.

More than that. They set up a camp where they keep people without charging them, they torture them, and all that with the approval of your beloved commander in chief. International law doesn’t apply there, eh? Have you ever heard about the Geneva convention?

Your troops paid no respect to the culture of the country they invaded (against the international law!) – they built their headquarters in a close proximity of an ancient zikurrat, used an infamous prison to further torture mostly innocent people they just grabbed on the streets at random.

Their first and prime objective was to secure the oil production. I wonder why the US didn’t attack the Northern Korea prior to Iraq, even if it *is* known that Korea owns nuclear weapons and is a greater threat.

Now ask yourself: what would you do and how would you feel if a foreign army invaded your country, pillaged it, tortured and oppressed your citizens, killed tens of thousands innocent people, mocked your culture… You cannot possibly imagine how it feels when an army invades your country (which happened twice to my country in this century in 1939 and 1968).

What you and your leaders should learn in the first place is to respect others. Other opinions and other ways of life. You don’t live on this planet alone.

My perplexity at the state of the world begins to make some sense now that someone mentioned this website to me. It’s frightening to think that human beings can be as callous, ignorant, narrow-minded and deluded as many of these writings imply. May God give us the strength to advance even in the face of this.

  9. Gareth Peoples June 11th, 2006 1:03 PM

as an Irishman I disagree strongly with this whole blog really. The US forces were wrong to massacre 11 innocent Iraqis in that northern Iraqi town. This is something right on the lines of what Saddam Hussein would do. It was a racially motivated attack by US Forces just for the sake of it. Sickens me how people become so blind to the actions of their own nation.
US have always abused their power right from hiring Nazis to work on nuclear technology right up to the Iranian Coup d’etat in 1953 which was organised by the CIA. I also believe that 9/11 was set up by the CIA, there is sufficent evidence left behind. I have also blogged about the death of these 11 innocent Iraqis on my blog feel free to comment. I also believe that Linux is a superior operating system to Windows in several ways. I use Debian Linux on my home PC and it works great or even better than Windows. In terms of using it as a webserver or a server in general it kicks Windows 2003 ass. Back to the state of politics in the Iraqi conflict. Iraq is being tormented by US control and the sooner UN troops from my own country come in there will be a great reduction in this unacceptable troops by US forces throughout the country and the British in Basra.

Thanks for providing such absolute rubbish, would had guessed you were on the side of George Bush,

    Guys,

I am surprised that many of you do not realize that this blog is a _parody_ of the intolerant, aggressive and arogant thinking, and as a parody, it is really the best on the internet.

  11. Fred June 11th, 2006 4:00 PM

Even if Saddam Hussein was a dictator (one of the worst) the method used by usa is not the good one.
You’re not “defending your country” but you have INVADED Iraq like Hitler did with Poland. We’re now seeing you’re doing the same as him:
    - usa have concentration camps
    - usa is regrouping people in “labor camp”
    - usa have invaded countries
    - usa are un martial law
    - bush is a frustrated man like hitler was
USA are not democratic anymore: they are just a parody of it.
You can’t say what you want neither than feeling secure without guns. Aren’t there too much problems inside ?
And if war in Iraq as well as 9/11 terrorisms attacks were planified, long before they happened, by US Govt ?
I don’t say i believe it but that you should ask yourself some questions before trusting FoxNews & Co

  12. Bubba June 11th, 2006 4:46 PM

So what is the “Liberal” agenda? I keep hearing how bad liberals are, but no explanation why. Most of the liberals I hear support the troops, just not the president. The “media” has been the lap dogs of the Presidency and Republican party for six years now. Because of the overwhelming bad news of the war, corruption of the republian party, and various other scandals they have been forced to start reporting the issues they have ignored so long. So now they are labeled “liberal media” (or I guess liberal media is everything EXCEPT Fox news). If this current administration is the best the conservatives and republicans can come up with, then I say bring on the liberals, the more left the better. I’m not ready to change parties (I’m still a republican) but I am ready for a change and a big one.

  13. Max June 11th, 2006 5:26 PM

Bill O’reilly is Widestream Media ??? Yeah that just proves how republicans only give importance to what they do, in this case a small idiot.

  14. Canadian June 11th, 2006 5:27 PM

Too bad … This site is run by small people. Small words. From small beings attacking what they don’t understand.

  15. Friedkin June 11th, 2006 5:44 PM

Those saying this site is a spoof/parody/pastiche/satire sum up the escapist fear that lays at the core of extremist/fundamentalist thinking. This is the real world. These are the people that populate it. The world isn’t nice. It’s an ugly place. It’s full of people who want to be Hitler. There’s more people now that want to be Hitler than there was 50 years ago. These days everybody wants to be Hitler. The only people who ever wanted to be Jesus were hippies. The only way to survive these days is to be a bully. That’s the truth. If you can’t accept that, come up with a different truth. But make sure it’s solid. It’s not communism/fascism/anarchy/liberalism/conservatism etc. etc. etc. What is required something new. The only thing we as humans have in common is that every single race/religion etc. at some point has broken a mould. We appear to be at some dead end right now. Our biggest challenge EVER is to come to a communal solution. Let’s restrict our belligerence to sports. All of us, arabs, caucasians, africans, native americans, aborigines, inuits, have what it takes to make this world work. I don’t know what BUG it is that poisons us into pointless destruction, but for everyones’s sake, let’s rent-o-kill it.

  16. noneya June 11th, 2006 6:48 PM

The American troops have been slaughtering peoplke since the birth of America. Why do you deny this?

  17. Nigel Horton June 11th, 2006 7:27 PM

About 10 years ago I had to go to the US as a european rep of a big name US company. When I landed at JFK I was propositioned by the customs officer to have gay sex, or he wouldn’t let me into the country. I refused, and managed to pull some strings to get into the country without having to submit to this disgusting sexual blackmail, only to attend the meeting and being blackmailed again by the US bosses of this company and being promised promotion if I subjected to certain gay activities. I refused, and then was subjected again to more disgusting abuse trying to leave the country. I was threatened with having my passport revoked and never be let back home unless I agreed to partake in sexual intercourse with men. This, after they found in my wallet pictures of my wife and children. One of the custom officers even went as far as saying “I’d sure like to do me one of those kids”. Eventually I returned home, and resigned from my position with this major US company. I have struggled ever since to keep a job, and am very suspicious of any americans or american owned compamies, which is almost everyone these days. I am a very peaceful person, and therefore believed in the freedom the US brought to this world, but now I have serious doubts about their intentions, which I now believe are of a deviant nature. I talked about this recently to an american in a bar, and he was quite understanding. He bought me a few drinks, but it then turned out he got me drunk to take advantage, as he tried to fondle me outside the bar. What was most disappointing was that as soon as I stood up to him, he dropped his superior attitude and becams a sleazy, whimpering weasel. My image of the americans, which used to be based on Neil Armstrong, Ronald Reagan and Bryan Adams, has suffered a big blow, and I really don’t know what can be done to ever restore my faith in what I still believe used to be one of the greatest cultures in the world. God help you all.

I trust FoxNews & Co. Here is what they have to say about it.

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,199024,00.html

Immediately after the roadside bomb, Marines noticed a car full of “military-aged men” near the bomb site who ran when ordered to stop. Marines opened fire, killing four or five men.

The unit subsequently came under fire and a corporal identified the shots as coming from a specific house. A four-man team, including Wuterich, kicked in the door and found a series of empty rooms before hearing people behind one door. They kicked that one in, tossed a fragmentation grenade into the room and one Marine fired a series of rounds through dust and smoke, killing several people.

Even though they realized they had killed men, women and children, they saw a back door ajar and believed insurgents had moved to a second house. The Marines moved to the second house, kicking in the door, killing one man inside and then using another grenade and more gunfire to clear another room full of people.

Still having not found the insurgents, Wuterich told his team to stop and headed back to reassess the situation with his platoon leader, realizing that a number of civilians had just been killed.

  19. Charles Swanson June 11th, 2006 8:25 PM

Excuse me, if I may interject for a moment? Thank you. My name is Charles Swanson. I am a 17-year-old young man living in Lafayette, Georgia. I’ve been watching Shelley’s page for a while, and have noticed a few articles where she has stated an intense dislike for Linux and other *nix programs, hardware, and software.

I am saying this to protest her thinking, to enlighten her to the truth. The truth, no matter how painstakingly awful you may invision it to be, is that things are changing in the United States, and no matter how much you wish it not to happen, you’ll end up changing as well.

My case in point: Myself. Here at my home, I use a Compaq Deskpro from the late 1990s which runs Ubuntu Linux 6.06 “Dapper Drake” release. It is one of the most reliable computers I have ever used in my life, and I have it set up mainly for the development of my webcomic and to visit my forums I tend to frequent. In all honesty, I see no difference between my Ubuntu computer and the Windows XP computer out in my family’s living room.

From the outside, my computer looks plain, harmless. Why, it’s the same from the inside as well, too. Linux is just a harmless OS, made by people who want the operating system to be free. True, there are a number of people who use it to hack computers. I am not one of those people. I use Linux because of three key reasons:

    1) It is free software
    2) It is less vulnerable to programs running natively on Windows, such as virii, spyware, adware, trojans, rootkits, et cetera
    3) It is an avid supporter of many free, open-source programs like Mozilla Firefox, GAIM Instant Messenger, the OpenOffice.org word processing suite, the GNU Image Manipulation Program, and others

I noticed in an earlier article that you spoke of a program called “eMac”. This was a typo; the program you refer to is called eMacs, and is not hacker software at all. It is a simple word processor, much like Notepad or Wordpad on Windows XP.

Now, you may wonder why I am speaking up like this. Well, in all honesty I wasn’t prepared to until now. I have been seeing a growing number of people who tend to put Linux down, who say it is not a true American OS. This is true, and I will admit they are right. It’s not an American OS. But that is not the point I am trying to make. My point is this: Linux is an OS; It is used AS hacker technology, but was originally intended NOT TO BE hacker technology. And with this I end my statement.

  20. Charles Swanson June 11th, 2006 8:29 PM

Also, as an addendum: I may be old enough to vote, yes. But I have no interest in politics or voting. I am not Liberal, nor am I Conservative. I am not Democrat, nor am I Republican. I’m not interested in voting. I just want everyone to shut up and get along.

  21. Kyosuke Kasuga June 11th, 2006 10:57 PM

This blog may be a parody yet parodies are half truth, quarter doubt and quarter lies. If we don’t raise our voices, soon anything written this blog is to become full truth

By the way I use Linux. I don’t believe in a god like Jehovah or Jesus and may not be Cristian but i believe on many of the teachings of the man named Jesus Christ and i mean the truly teachings of him not that hate-religion-like Thistan believes in.

  22. Pkarm June 11th, 2006 11:14 PM

Bill O Reilly has not debunked anything. He is waiting tfor all of the facts to come out before he has an opinion on it. Don’t make up lies to try and justify your opinion.

  23. jeffrey June 12th, 2006 12:18 AM

im wondering if your writing is actual feeling or a ploy to anger people. Ive spent many hours absorbing your views on the United States government, world affairs, and your obvious hate towards “liberals.” I myself am not a democrat or republican because i feel they spend too much of their time eating at each others throats. Your blog is a great example of this.

As for this subject, i dont think people hate our troops, i think they hate that we are spending close to $6 billion on this “war effort.” Although i do find it ironic how we are spending all our media airtime talking about ending terrorism when we in fact are terrorist ourselves.

Terrorism: The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

I hate to sound cliche, but trying to drop our political views on other countries is in itself terrorism. Which is funny, because a democracy has more flaws in practice than socialism or communism…

If im right in thinking that this is just a ploy to invoke anger in people, avoid these paragraphs and know that at least i had some practice writing while i was wasting my time.

  24. no name June 12th, 2006 12:22 AM

I’m just giving a little support, I don’t know the whole story of what happened, but I’m sure none of your other commentators do either. I do agree with you that the media are very liberal. They may not always throw things in that are unfounded but they never tell any of the good stuff. Anything to make Bush look bad… thats all. Kudos on at least trying to voice your opinion over the liberal idiots who won’t even try to hear any other side.

War is ugly and our soldiers are without a doubt guilty of killing many innocent people (Fact of all wars). Of course we all considered this when our country “voted” on going to war right? Ohhh wait there was no vote.. Well when congress decided.. wait congress didn’t decide either.

Mistakes like this one are a result of putting too much power in the hands of too few people. The President should be a figurehead and diplomatic representative NOT a policy maker. The idea that this retarded hick from TEXAS makes the ultimate decesions for our country only shows how ridicolous our country has become.

The time to stand up and seperate church from state is at hand now. I encourage everyone to pickup this topic and take it to everyone they know. We cannot be ruled by one man’s view of GOD. We must root out these so called Christains from our government before they do anymore harm. If you are Christain fine, but don’t try to push your relegion on the rest of the country (Actual practicing Christians are not in the majority in the United States). Who is this Chris guy anyways? I believe in the ideals of Christ, he was a great man. Chris on the other hand seems to support holidays that mock and defame Christ (Christmas is a commercial holiday for pagans, Easter is a fertility day for pagans not the celebration of Christ)

Join me in the support of Christ and you can become a loving and accepting “Christ”-tian. Down with these Christians who support Chris!

  29. potto June 14th, 2006 11:24 AM

seeing as you only watch fox news you seem to have missed out on seeing the real evidence of this war crime. if you watched a news channel that wasnt controlled by your government you would know there are actually vidios of the shootings happening, and also vidios and pictures of the bodys, bodys of an old woman and a young baby included. if there was no crime why did the army lie about it? they said the house was bombed at first, and only changed thier minds shortly after pictures of the house still standing were released. and if you think your country isnt capable of war crimes then you should do some real research because im pretty sure holding prisoners in guantanamo bay for years without trial is a crime. and you should also see the photos of the sick abuse inflicted upon these prisoners by YOUR troops. if you still feel like praying for them after finding out the truth then you are very sick indeed.

  30. potto June 14th, 2006 11:47 AM

i would also like to add, how ca you support the war when your country is losing so much money in it. even if this war was for a decent reason it would be wrong. america is putting so much effort and money into the rest of the world that the american infrastructure is close to collapse. new orleans proved that. when something bad happened in your own country your government and emergency services had no idea what to do! a lot of people died and it was mainly the fault of your government and president. your troops should have been at home to help with the rescue and cleanup, NOT out in a foreign country that doesnt want them. and also when you talk about the iraqis being able to convert to christianity now, THEY OBVIOUSLY DONT WANT TO OR THEY WOULD HAVE DONE IT! no one was stopping them when saddam was in power because he was against all forms of religious extremism. it is now MORE dangerous for iraqi christians than before!
