Defending American’s Right to Choose : Smoking

What proof do we actually have that smocking is bad for us? There are many Americans that have smoked their whole lives and live to be a 100! There are several studies that actually show that smoking is good for us, because the smoke kills germs in the air we breathe. It?s like a disinfectant for the air!
Many good men smoked throughout their lives like Ronald Reagan and Rush Limbaugh.

As American as it can get : The Marlboro Man is enjoying the taste of Freedom

The whole anti-smoking hysteria is coming out of the far left corner of politics, from those girly men that can?t stand the smoke because they fear to faint any minute. But why do we let them terrorize us once again? Liberals have proven over and over again that they have no moral authority whatsoever. We should just ignore their whining and fight them wherever we can by enjoying the great taste of a cigarette and let them have their fair share as second hand smokers, because that is what they are: 2nd class!

True American Role Model : Ronald Reagan

Today I proudly proclaim my support for the smokers rights! I am a smoker myself. I smoked my first cigarette when I was 14 and I never regretted it. I also smoke around my children and during pregnancy, and my children grow up just fine!

Quote – Smokingaloud.com: The ongoing anti-smoking campaign is not about public health, drug abuse, or teen smoking. What it is all about is money, control, and jurisdiction.
1. MONEY: The U.S. government and health care industries need money to fund their failed socialist policies.
2. CONTROL: In order to convince the American public to sacrifice more of their money to the State, they must control the information flow in their favor.
3. JURISDICTION: In order to confiscate and redistribute the income of the tobacco industry and American taxpayer, the State must extend its jurisdiction and regulatory powers.

Liberal Cigarettes
The Liberal’s Cigarette : Ultra Lights / No Tast, No fun no real Freedom

The U.S. government has robbed Medicare and the Social Security Trust Fund to pay for it’s increased social spending and now needs to replenish its coffers. Health Insurance companies have built huge empires, homes, and lifestyles for its executives with the profits from health insurance premiums and now need to find a source of income to pay its increasing claims. I actually believe the Health Insurance industry is on the verge of collapse unless it comes up with something.

From its very beginning, the Clinton Spin Machine has been at work popularizing Socialism in our society. Examples abound everywhere, blowing the health issues with smoking WAY out of proportion is only one. Hillary’s entire “It Takes A Village” propaganda campaign has been designed to turn the Americans attention from the real issues of them dismantling “democratic capitalism” to embrace a more “socialistic” form of government.[-smokinjoe]

Arnold Smoking
Arnold Schwarzenegger : Smoking to enjoy the American way of Life
(Picture: smokersclubinc.com)

I urge you to support the smokers rights and confront anti-smokers wherever you can. Buy cigarettes and enjoy the taste of freedom!

Yours truly,
Shelley Goodman

A response from my good friend Tristan:

Shelley,

These pro-smoking web sites make some very convincing arguments!

The tobacco industry does America great deal of good, plus it supports a
great many worthy causes. It’s one of our most valuable exports, and
some of America’s best loved brands. Joe Camel and the Marlboro man are
both American icons. Building these brands is an achievement every bit
as valuable as the space program.

Pot-smoking Liberal
The Liberal’s Hypocrisy knows no Limits : They smoke pot every chance they get, but want to stop good hard working Americans from enjoying the freedom to smoke a good oldfashioned cigarette

The medical evidence against tobacco seems to be no more than
circumstantial. No scientists have been able to prove in a laboratory
that tobacco is anything other than beneficial. I personally choose not
to smoke, but I hardly think liberals with their disproportionate “vice
taxes” are the ones to morally lead our country. What rights have they
to tell me what I should or shouldn’t do? This is supposed to be a free
country!

Why are the politcally-correct democrats so opposed to American
agriculture anyway? Some of the founding fathers were tobacco growers.
This attack on tobacco growers is an attack on American agriculture, and
American businesses. Why are the democ-rats leading a war on American
industry at a time of war?

What’s their problem?

Tristan

(Proud to support American business)

Oh really?? you are right!! smoke all you can, in your pregnancy, all the day in front of your children, and let them begin smoking aging 8 or 9 so they can join you in that healthy habit.

The more you smoke, the first you will die to cancer, lung disease, etc… and you will do the world a favor.

I was not surprised about your opinion on smoke, since you really think that oil will last forever, and that the carbon monoxide and dioxide are good for the planet. Do you know that when you smoke, you breath carbon monoxide? you know that this gas is very poisonous? that is because many people commit suicide breathin the exaust gases of their cars, because they have a lot of carbon monoxide.

And you are right in one thing. The smoke kill all germs on the air, but also kill your own cells in your lungs, and fill your lungs with the same oil which the roads are built on.

But the worst thing at all, is that when you are smoking, you are not the only one breathing your smoke, but also all people who stand with you. Smokers are like mini WMD in themselves, spreading cancer and diseases where they go with their smoke.

    Yours

    Albert

Gosh, you’re too right about the liberals and their pot. To my shame, I had a liberal relative once and although I shuddered at the thought of crossing his threshold I went round to his house once because I thought it was my duty as a Christian to at least try and reason with him and bring him back from Satan.

Of course once I’d fought my way past all the ‘vote for Gore’ signs and other trappings of the Evil One that marked out his drive and went through his front door, pretty much the first thing I saw was a gigantic pot plant. He laughed when he saw me see it and I thought he was even going to offer me one of his “jazz cigarettes”.

Straight out, I punched him down, tied him up and called our local Sheriff, Officer Dorian Sherman. Naturally Sheriff S. was as horrified as I was to see this devil plant growth in our good county and he gave my unconscious cousin a pretty strong seeing too with his baton for resisting arrest (the liberal fag wouldn’t get up and walk to the car like a man).

Anyway, to cut a long story short, he got five years in state penitentiary. When he came out he had the words ‘bum boy’ tattooed on his forehead, I presume because some wrongly convicted republican (proabbly there because of some liberal plot relating to so-called ‘financial scandal’) had taken it upon himself to warn the world of just what kind of (half) man my cousin was.

A few months later he died of the gay Aids, like most liberals. I don’t know if he’s happier now, burning in hell, but I do know that I saved him from yet more sin and that the world is at least a better place without him and his foul pot plants.

    Great argument.

Beat till death anything that is not like you.

As a civilizated citizen, I?Ǭ¨?Ǭ•m just horrified about what you are descripting.

You are the Devil’s minion, noneless!

The only thing you deserve it so be killed in another terror attack, or maybe under one or two iranian nukes

Go Iran Go!! ride the world of the fanatic red necks!! and the world would be a better place to live :)

Note to Tacnredo4President — this website is NOT a parody and repeating it doesn’t make it true. It wouldn’t occur to anyone EXCEPT a Liberal-nutcase that Shelley and Co. make “Republicans look bad” — you’ve outted yourself.

  7. Tristan Shuddery May 31st, 2006 8:39 AM

Shelly, I am shocked that you would still smoke while pregnant.
Did you drink a lot as well? Im just suprised that even if you did not believe that smoking was harmful that you would take the chance. What if it turned out that your child had a birth defect? Also, do you have respect other people? If someone kindly asks you to put out your cigarette, do you? Or do you get angry and blow smoke at their face? If so thats not a very Christian thing to do. How many people do you know have or had lung cancer? Out of those people how many were non-smokers? On your death bed will you still profess the lies?
    You sicken me Shelley.

  8. Katie May 31st, 2006 9:25 AM

“What proof do we actually have that smocking is bad for us?”
ovibously it affects our ability to proof-read before posting a blog on something as wide spread as the internet.

But seriously though, if you want to smoke do it. Don’t spread your propoganda to the masses and tell them why it isn’t bad, when there are so many people out there dying of lung cancer, heart disease, throat and tounge cancer and engina.

  9. Mario May 31st, 2006 9:57 AM

i am a smoker of my own (sry for my bad english), but i know and i feel by my self, that its damaging my health.

The evil think is that you become addicted of nicotine.

Maybe it looks very cool to smoke, but that what you get is nothing – not even freedom. YOu need your cigaretts and that every hour – maybe often. Why should that be called freedom?

  10. Mick Rook May 31st, 2006 9:59 AM

Go Shelley! Get your children to smoke as well, just like I did. I work for R.J. Reynolds, and thanks to the liberals business is not going a well as it used to. They should be jailed for their scare-mongering, which verges on terrorism! I can’t afford to lose my job as I need to pay for the treatment of my wife, a previous non-smoker who has lung cancer. She worked for a company run by liberals (she wasn’t aware of this!)who wouldn’t allow her cigarette breaks. For fear of losing her job she obeyed, and to try an beat the craving, stopped smoking all together, and now she is paying the price! Had she been allowed to smoke, she would have been able to fence off the cancerous cells. Non-smokers are killing my wife! I don’t know what I’ll do if she dies. Fortunately, I get cigarettes for free, so now she is smoking for two, to beat the cancer. With God’s help, she will succeed!

  11. Pirate Bill May 31st, 2006 10:08 AM

Yeah be all pro choice, everybody has the right to smoke or abort if they decide. Both are ways of killing people anyways

Bwaaahahahahahaaaa, that was another great piece of fun. I really wonder how far you guys can go. Keep going, this is funny as hell !
By the way, I recently read about a Linux article coming, named : “Can I get sued for using Linux ?”, something like that… Will it be released soon ?

And don’t forget Ubuntu Linux 6.06 LTS Dapper Drake will be released tomorrow !!!

Are you planning to have this website hosted on Windows Server 2003, the powerful and secure American operating system ?

  13. Alex May 31st, 2006 11:35 AM

You know what, either the government should make it illegal to smoke, or they should leave them alone. It isnt right for the government to constantly try to hurt a company that sells a totally legal product.

And on that note, why not the same agression against alcohol? Soda? Fast food? The government doesnt try to keep teenagers off them every day on tv or radio.

You know what my favourite image is? Last week at the Formula 1 gran Prix imn Monaco: a super fast car racing through a tunnel with a beer (Fosters) and a cigarette (Gauloises) ad. Not that I’d put F1 over American Indy racing, or would smoke French cigarettes or drink Austalian beer, but the image still summed up the main pleasures in my life! And liberals want to take this away from me? SHAME ON YOU!!!! In teh words of John Wayne: you want to take out my lung? Take ‘em both, I don’t need them. I’ll grow gills and breathe like a fish! Typical American survivor.

    Shelley, you rock !

Actually, I’ve been smoking since I was 2.
I used to smoke 1 packet per day, but now I think it’s not enough.
I smoke 3 packets of cigar per day.
I’ve got my skin falling off and I cough blood, but the doctors say it’s normal for a 13 year old boy: its puberty.

Nervtheless, I really enjoy giving my money to corrupted Cuban mafiosi.

    God bless me.

Oh yeah, and I’ve got 8 different cancers, but it’s not because I smoke: it’s because if all the “democ-rats” around me !

  18. Nathan May 31st, 2006 1:45 PM

Oh yes… go ahead and smoke… the cancer WILL get you eventually, then the evolution kicks in.

  19. Pkarm May 31st, 2006 2:10 PM

I have no problem with people who want to smoke, that is their right. However anyone who says smoking does not cause harm is just in denial. It is a proven fact that smoking does cause cancer. I would love to take people to see some of the patients my wife, a hospice nurse, see what smoking has dnoe for them. My son has a one year and I told his wifes mother than I better never catch her smoking around the baby because it is not good for him and just plain selfish on her part.

Like I say smokers have the right to smoke.

  20. a non smoker, gay, european, linux user May 31st, 2006 3:21 PM

Please, do us a favor! Smoke a lot, and die in lung-cancer! Then probably you’ll meet god, who’ll tell you how asshole you are! (we tell it also, but you don’t believe us) But then who will we laugh at…?

  21. NoDeca May 31st, 2006 4:12 PM

waw, shelley, please tell me who the pot-smoking girl is in the picture:-)

  22. Roger May 31st, 2006 5:00 PM

Speaking as a doctor, I would like to say that pot does have its (marginal, granted) benefits, and should be considered the same as codeine and other FDA schedule II drugs. Its uses as a cure for glaucoma and inducer of appetite make this drug somewhat appealing. It should not however be smoked, so I agree in keeping it off our streets, and in stopping the weed trade. Marijuana has very few benefits, and should remain illegal except for restricted medical use.

  23. Not all americans are like this pysco May 31st, 2006 6:03 PM

Good, get your kids smoking. Then you’re DNA will die out, which will be good for the rest of the earth. Seriously, where do you come up with this crap? Here’s some steps that will help defeat those liberals:
    1.take gun
    2.take gun to your head
    3.pull trigger

  24. Romanovzky May 31st, 2006 6:13 PM

    Tancredo4President said:
“This website is simply a parody. A parody created by some stupid left-wing liberals in order to make us republicans look bad. This is not how real republicans are, this is simply a parody. But I know most of the dumb (and mostly European) liberals reading this blog are too stupid to know they are being fooled. The stupid liberal nutcase who created this website has way too much time on their hands but that?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥s not surprising because there?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥s nothing these left-wing nutcases wouldn?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ¥t do to make us republicans look bad. ”

Well, it may be parody. But what concerns me most is that there are, in fact, some people who behave like Shelley, like you for example:
“some stupid left-wing liberals ” Insulting is your best argument, and American liberals ARE NOT left-wing…you don’t know shit of real politics, try to learn more about the Left/Right wings, for instance: here in Portugal we consider the republicans Right-wing and the liberals “Not so” Right-Wing, still they are both right-wing…

“But I know most of the dumb (and mostly European) ” Racist, Xenophobe and intolerant, just like Shelley :)

And again you call Stupid, Nutcase and Left-wing again in your comment, once again you just behave like Shelley.

So, as you can see, this blog can be a parody, but there are people like Shelley out there in the USA…people just like YOU!

    :D

And about the “paradox” concerning Smoking and Light Drugs (aka Pot):
I’m for banning smoking in public places, and the polls here in Portugal state that more than 70% are also in favor. Still there are more than 30% smokers here…so it seems that our smokers have some concern for others…
As to pot, I’m in favor that one should be able to do to ones body if one wishes so, just like about smoking: I’m not against people smoking…but when I’m with my friends at dinner, they ask the people if they can smoke, while eating we ask not to do so but afterwards I don’t object, instead I only ask them to “spill” the smoke to the other side, and they do it! It’s a matter of respect for the well being of others, and not a matter of lobbies nor conspiracies against the USA (yes, because CHINA, that evil country, produces around half of the tobacco produced world wide, and even south america produces more than you do…)

    Hasta camrades

  25. DiMi May 31st, 2006 6:28 PM

    @ Mick Rook

Are you serious? Smoking absolutely doesn’t cure that cancer. Neither did the non-smoking create that cancer. All those years off smoking before she worked at that company resulted in that cancer. If she keeps smoking for two then, I’m sorry to be so blunt, she isn’t going to last long.

I’ve been in the hospital and shared my room with three other men. All of them smoked and all of them were there for cancer. Not one of them thought about quiting. Sometimes I just can’t believe how stupid people are. You’ve hit a new low, Shelley. I almost hope Shelley, Tristan and everyone who thinks alike dies of lungcancer.

  26. Tristan Shuddery May 31st, 2006 8:24 PM

Thank you for clarifying this. “Tacnredo4President” is one of the more obvious trolls that we get on this site. He is clearly an insane liberal trying to make our clear Republican policies look as muddy and vague as the democratic agenda.

At least one other user has been trying to hack our site and impersonate me, a pathetic attempt: you liberals are not fooling anybody!

    Tristan

  27. pkarm May 31st, 2006 8:50 PM

WOW! I am amazed at the hate that comes from the left wing fanatics that come here. If you are so upset with the opinions expressed here why do you keep coming back…..are you all really deep down just closet Conservatives? Keep up the GREAT work Shelly with the anger I see expressed here you are obviously doing something right.

  28. Fred May 31st, 2006 10:24 PM

    Be serious !
I’m a smoker … But i don’t want non smoking people to be involved in my own choice. I can smoke but I also have to avoid contacts between them and my smoke.
What is more, i smoke because i like it, not because my health decay will sponsor any company… That’s is, once again, the proof you’re putting money over people health and it’s a shame :(

  29. Pirate Bill May 31st, 2006 10:54 PM

Looking at that left-wing “March of Dimes” website, smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of premature birth and nearly doubles the risk of low-birthweight babies. If we apply “Shelly logic” we can see the benefits of this. With overweight children so prevalent, this starts them out on the right foot in life being underweight, not to mention making delivery easier with a smaller kid. And how many women wish in the last weeks of pregnancy that it would be just over already – there you go -premature birth. Throw the kid in an incubater for a few weeks and if it survives, your golden. “Shelly logic” everything is great if you an spin it just right!

    Great parody.

  37. RBH June 3rd, 2006 12:50 PM

My father and brother died of lung cancer from smoking. Have you ever seen someone waste away with cancer? In horrible pain that never ends? I hope you get to experience it a thousand times over for putting this utter crap online.

Smoking may not kill everyone but it does kill most people. To tell people otherwise is borderline criminal. I know that if I read this blog and started smoking to later get lung cancer I would sue you so bad your grandchildren would be working to pay off your debt.

On a lighter note Marijuna smoke has just been proven not to cause cancer and perhaps even prevent it. Maybe when need to mix in some marijuana with our Marlboros?

  38. Anonymous June 3rd, 2006 4:17 PM

    Well, it’s a parady but anyway…

I actually agree with this. This happens occasionally. When I say agree, I agree that people should be allowed to smoke… I also think people should be allowed to smoke pot. As for your arguments? Silly. But your conclusion was right.

I think others have debunked your arguments well enough.

It does raise interesting questions though. Firstly, it’s not effecting just you; it’s effecting children you have. That I can get round by saying that if the state starts dictating what you can do about that too much, it’s very easy for the state to indoctrinate children (as it does now; I’d rather see parents indoctrinate children.. not so good, I know, but it at least preserves some sane people). The second problem is that your smoke other people breathe in; that is fixed well enough by people just avoiding you. It’s a social – not legal – problem.

  50. potto June 16th, 2006 8:32 AM

ure argumennt bout the health insurance industry is ridiculous obviously the healthcare system will make more money if more people get ill, smoking makes you ill so why would they want to ban it? it HAS been proven that smoking kills and if you are saying that only liberals want to ban smoking you should do some research. there is a hard line right wing college called henry james college in america, it educates its students to become high ranking poilticians (its also very serious about religion) and none of the students or teachers are allowed to smoke. if smokings so good, why is this? and also in another article you wrote that english parents force feed their children alcohol saying it is good for them, this isnt true, but even if it was who are you to criticise because you just did exactly the same thing!

If all of you keep letting “big brother” keep legislating whether you can smoke, wear a seatbelt, you’ll will very soon not have any rights. They’ll be telling you how to raise your children, what books you can read. What’s so funny is that they think it’s perfectly acceptable for the immorality and violence that we are shown everyday and expose their children to, but somehow, my smoking in my car, a restaurant, or in my home is going to totally cause their children to become delinquents.

Recently there have been reports in the media suggesting there may be additional criteria to be met when determining electability of a candidate for President of the United States – namely, whether or not that candidate smokes cigarettes or not. I am specifically referring to the latest reports regarding Barack Obama’s bid for the presidency, and the fact that he smokes cigarettes. Well if smoking cigarettes can determine whether or not a candidate is qualified to serve as President, then presumably one could assume that’s probably based on health concerns, correct? The ones more noteably that come to mind are lung conditions such as lung cancer, emphysema, etc, etc. Obviously, the healthcare industry has certainly done a good job as of late convincing us these conditions are a result of smoking, so it’s understandable how people might refer to that as a basis for their concern.

However with regards to this issue, there is a dirty little secret the healthcare industry has conveniently forgotten to mention over the years. In addition, it’s quite apparent they have no desire to come forward and divulge this to the public any time soon, much less make an effort to correct/dispel any inaccuracies or rumors associated with the issue either. Yes, it appears they are quite content the way things are – no matter how many people may be affected by their silence, or omissions. But with reference to the healthcare industry, there can never be any good that will ever come out of dishonesty, or blatant omission, so I feel strongly the public has a right to know, and absolutely deserves to know exactly what these “medical professionals” (aka the medical mafia) have been deliberately keeping from us. Having said that, what I’m about to tell you is really just the tip of the iceberg as far as what they’ve truly been able to distort, and keep under wrap. And keep in mind, if they can get away with misleading the public about one thing, is it not logical to assume they might very well be doing the same thing in other areas of concern as well? – Say, for example heart disease, obesity, etc., etc? Just remember, if there’s a profit to be made in some way, often times that far outweighs the desire to be forthright. Case in point … our state health departments literally make millions of $ each year off the backs of smokers (through higher taxes, etc), so is it any wonder they would ever want to upset the gold-filled apple cart, and do anything that could possibly jeopardize that income? Well, maybe it’s about time the truth comes out, and our so-called medical professionals are held accountable for the chaos they’ve enjoyed inflicting on the public – all in the name of good health.

What this is in reference to is called: Alpha-1 Antitrypsin – commonly referred to by doctors as Alpha-1. What it is basically, is a genetic deficiency linked to all kinds of lung problems – including lung cancer, emphysema, asthma, etc, etc, R-E-G-A-R-D-L-E-S-S whether a person smokes cigarettes or not, whether they’ve ever smoked in their life, or have ever even been around cigarette smoke – period. In other words, if for example there were no such thing as cigarettes, people would still get lung cancer, emphysema, etc, etc., simply because some of us are already genetically predisposed for having lung problems. A simple blood test in a doctor’s office can determine whether or not you have the deficiency; but unfortunately, chances are, doctors are not going to willingly offer that test to you. But this is why there are some people who get lung cancer who have never smoked a day in their life, and this is also why other people might smoke 50 years, and never have lung problems. Again, it doesn’t matter how much they try, and try, to put the blame for this on a person’s lifestyle … The fact is, there IS a genetic link to these lung conditions. But again, the medical community would prefer we not know about this, because otherwise, that would interfere with their true agenda – which is to put as much blame as possible on individuals for the medical conditions they may have. It’s really a shame we’ve allowed them so much power that they’ve been able to get away with this; but from their perspective, it’s better for them, and of course easier too, just to concentrate on blaming the people themselves for certain conditions/illnesses, and they can just wash their hands of it. That way, they don’t have to worry about wasting valuable time studying genetics at all anymore if they don’t want to, and they certainly wouldn’t have to worry about being hounded to get a cure/treatment for something if they could just put the blame for that condition on the people themselves anyway. And of course, need I be remindful as to what happens when there is a cure for something, for example … polio? The Doctors are the ones who end up with less $ in their pockets.

Smoking is a sin! As it is an addiction, and addiction is sinful due to the fact that it takes your mind off God! Or are we two-faced on this site? Smoking is more dangerous because you are saying to God that you would rather breathe some man-made cancer than the sweet natural air He provided!

Your view are messed up and you really have no clue about the world!

    Hi all,

Please understand that I have recently become a proud Democrat. So please disregard anything I’ve said on this site, I relaise now how wrong I was. Please I ask that you forgive me for preaching my evil ways.

Since I converted, I have become more relaxed, become closer in my relationship with God, and everyone agrees I’m not such a tight ass anymore.

So please, vote democrat, they are more like you and me, people just trying to make sence of the world the best they can

    God bless you all,
    Tristan Shuddery
