In many respects America is special, it stands out of the mass of poor and sick countries around the planet. America’s wealth is truly overwhelming. Nowhere else on this planet you can live that free and this secure as you can in America!
Thanks to George W. Bush and his massive tax cuts this trend is even more true. Liberal democ-rats always complain and bring numbers forward like: “The national debt is $8,370,616,058,395“, but they never mention that the national annual income is about 20 times this amount! That means that if you are earning 50,000 Dollars a year that you would have an average of only $2500 Dollars in debt. So what? It’s not only normal but a good thing. It means that other countries are still interested in investing in America! I can’t get to deep into this subject, because liberals are still reading and this would clearly exceed their mental capacity.
The unemployment numbers are lower than ever before.. under 5% that is! More Americans own houses than ever before, more Americans own cars than ever before and more and more Americans can save money and invest in gold and stocks. That is (among others) the reason why the stock market and the gold price is going up steadily. The crime rates are at a historic low, the war on terror is virtually won!
There is a lot of hope in today’s America and I can proudly proclaim that the American Dream is alive again!

The American Dream is but an illusion. America is no better than any country, and has it’s dark side as well.
Now unless you know economy very well, If I was you I’d restrain myself of saying that an 8 trillion dollar debt is “ok”. It’s not. It means your economy is tripping over it’s own weight. And that means recession … soon.

Unemployment may be low, but it means nothing. Many of them have jobs that pay almost nothing, and they still live in poverty, just not officially.

Let’s say, 100% of resorces are produces, the USA is using 30%, ok, so far so good. Let’s pretend the USA would not use any resources, would there still be produces a 100%?

Where did you get that. In 2005, the debt represented 64.7% of the gross product. I didn’t make that out, it is on the CIA website http://odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/us.html
Your math is a bit off there Shelley.
8.3 trillion divided by 350 million is around $25,000.
So, if you are a family of 5, your share is $125,000. Unless you have your 3 year old out there working making 50 g’s a year… you are in serious debt.

100% are all the resources used by all the countries today. so 100% are all the countries togeter, each using a couple percents of all the resources.
Now the usa ALONE use 30% of all resources, while other countries may use only couple percent. The rest of the world have to share the rest, even if a country has more people.

If you really want to understand complicated topics such as the federal budget and terms like ‘debt’ and ‘deficit’ but don’t want to run the risk of coming into contact with any “liberal propoganda”, you might start with the White House’s own website. Or the Treasury Department’s website.
The White House’s site has a nifty section on the budget that makes it quite clear Congress is spending more money than is coming in. This means the Treasury Department has to borrow money to make ends meet, so to speak.
I don’t know about you, but if I consistently spent more money than I made, it would not be long before I ran into serious trouble.
It is also clear that the interest payments on the debt are huge. Last year it was more than 350 billion dollars (you can get this info from the Treasury Dept.), more than was budgeted for the Departments of Education, Homeland Security, Veteran Affairs, Agriculture and Justice…combined!
This is not healthy.
Really, take a look. It might prevent your embarrassing yourself and looking like a complete moron in the future. The reading is a little dry, I admit. I hope it doesn’t exceed your mental capacity.

I’m French, and personnaly I not very attracted by the US, especially if I must be filed (bionic passport).
I’m very pessimistic about the american dream in france (and also in europe). The recents affairs, about the first ‘election’ of GWD, the injustified Irak war (I think Irakians civils have better reason to be terrorised by the US than the US by terrorist), or the torture usage by the US have a bad inpact on the US image, and it will be hard and long to recover an image of an “Example of Wealth, Liberty and Justice”.

I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt, I am an educated man, but honestly I know little about finances in the US. Shelley, please enlighten me, I would like to know about your debt situation and the like even though you are afraid of confusing all the stupid liberals on here. So far to be honest I havent seen many, most of the posts have be somewhat researched posts of rational people. But I really am curious about your explanation, and a math major I think I have the intellegence and logical ability to follow your explanation, i.e., you will not confuse me.

This means the US debt is growing extremely fast, because the government has to raise credits to:
1. pay for the annual losses,
2. pay the interests for the actual debts.
Coming back to your example: If there is a family with $2,500 in debts, they have to raise an annual credit of $1,000 to pay their bills and raise another credit of $200 to pay their debt interests.
How long do you think this family can keep on living a prosper life?
