Podcasts Part 1: Liberal Media’s next Assault on America
Like many of Shelley’s readers, I am a parent. I am proud to say that myself and Mrs Shuddery brought up two beautiful girls. The oldest is now married, and a home-maker herself. The youngest is training to be a dental technician. She’s also a youth leader in our Church; Had my wife and I not been such diligent parents things might have been so different for my two girls.
Had my two kids been exposed to the worst of Liberal media, they might have grown up to have been prostitutes and drug addicts. If you want to see the consequences of negligent liberal parenthood, just read Shelley’s articles on Liberal Children.
One of the this Administration’s greatest achievement is surely reigning in the very worst excesses of liberal media. There was a time when nudity, fornication and cussing could be observed on any primetime show. The Bush FCC has cleaned it all up, and now American families can sit back, re-assured that TV is safe for children of all ages.
Liberal Media : Harmful and Poisonous to American Values
And now just as television is safe again, a new danger has raised it’s demonic head: Invented by the Apple Computer company, the iPod is a device for receiving coded transmissions called “Podcasts”. The iPod was originally marketed as a fashion accessory, and it initially became popular amongst Blue-State “metrosexual” communities.
The iPod was an extension of Sony’s invention, the “Walkman”, however instead of the humble cassette it featured a new kind of “memory-stick” called a microdrive, capable of storing up to five hours of music.
The Walkman : Good Idea gone terribly wrong
At first, the iPod had difficulty breaking out of it’s “Alternative Lifestyle” niche. The first versions required Apple’s Firewire, found on every Mac but completely incompatible with Microsoft’s superior IEE 1394 ports found on most PCs.
It was inevitable, that as the PC Magazine columnist John Devorak predicted, Apple would be forced to abandon it’s decades old “Macintosh OS X” platform and switch to the Microsoft / Intel based computers. Despite denials and outraged protests from the Apple Computer company, and their legion of obsessive fans Apple Computer did that.
It turns out that Apple was merely stalling while their engineers to figured out how to make their iPods work on Windows. Having overcome these initial technical barriers, the iPod is now the most popular Personal Music Device (or PMD) available in America.
So what’s the problem? On the surface, this would seem like another American success, however if we look below the surface we can see darker forces at work:
Apple neglected to mention that every iPod ever sold included a hidden feature called “Podcasting” which they unveiled in mid 2005.
Today’s iPod users are not aware of the high Risks
This feature allows liberal media direct access to young Americans without any of the safeguards that make TV channels like Fox News fair and balanced. A quick scan though some of America’s most popular podcasts is proof enough that a dangerous liberal minority have seized control over this influential channel.
In my next article I will give you an glimpse of liberal media gone out of control; I will be reviewing three of the most popular liberal podcast shows, and give you tips on how you can help your kids avoid content that might harm their relationship with God.
Shelley and I will also be introducing our next petition. We want government regulation for podcasts. Trust me, when you know how dangerous these podcasts can be you will want it too!

I just don’t understand why Microsoft implementation of an ISO standard is “superior”.
Also, I don’t understand the meaning of “switch MacOSX on microsoft/intel based machines”. I did belive that Apple just “ported” their system on intel based processor. I know that MacOSX is based on a flavor of BSD, and that most of BSD based operating system (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD) just run on many platform (intel, PPC, mips, …).
Anyway, I think the solution of podcasting and many other problem is not to find in laws, but “simply” teaching our childrens what we belive in, what is right and good and what is wrong and evil and most important WHY it is right or wrong. This will assure us that changing the laws will not endanger our childrens. A law still as the problem that it as to be enforced.
For information, IEEE-1394, FireWire and (Sony’s) iLink are the exact same thing, following the same exact standard (with Sony using the mini 4-pins connector instead of the regular 6-pins one used elsewhere).
The original trouble for the iPod on non-Apple computers was due to the software (iTunes wasn’t released for any other platform yet) and the iPod drivers (the drivers weren’t released for any other platform and thus the OS wasn’t able to determinate how to communicate with the device).
This had nothing to do with the lower quality of FireWire over IEEE-1394 (in fact both were built on, and respected the same standard, and Apple’s implementation was known at the time for being just a bit more efficient on the driver-side than anyone else at the time).
Anyway, when can we expect to see the Shelley & Tristan show on air, or a podcast, fighting fire with fire ? Any plan to syndicate it so it can be sold in Europe and used to educate the heathen and brutish masses ?
When will you denonce that horrid country that is France ? And Netherlands ? And Iceland ?
And what about Japan, surely you do have something to say against Japan, after all these little sneaky yellow heathen perverts are worse than Germans, and some US Air Force Generals (probably filthy liberals) are pressuring the Congress so they can sell F-22 to Japan. No true American would want to see these technological proof of American excellence in the hand of these moral degenerates right ?

IEEE 1394 is Firewire. 1394a and b is supported by apple. 1394 itself is supported by sony under the brand name ‘iLink’. The inital iPod cointained 5GB of storage which is capable of storing much more than 5 hours of music. Podcasting is not something new, and you don’t need an iPod to listen to one…all a podcast is is an audio file. Do your research.

Wrong. I have had a 3rd generation Ipod for about 4 years. Podcast was NOT a hidden feature, it was introduced with a software update. Thus, the facility was not “unveiled” or anything sinister, it was introduced afresh with a software update. There is a difference.
Yes, iPods can be dangerous. And other MP3 players, and you know why? Because I tend to listen to fairly heavy rock music (not that Christian Rock crap - Im talking abusive shouting, electric guitar and drums all round) so I can’t hear the preachings of idiots like yourself.

When the Internet started getting bigger, people started to realize they could make their own shows, radio or television like, and broadcast them over the net, usually for free.
Lets just hope and pray, that those people know a little more about what their talking about compared to people like tristan and shelly.

Why can’t people do their research before going on some blatantly ignorant rant? If you really have no earthly idea about a subject’s history, you’re going to make yourself look like an idiot. Podcasts, like previously mentioned, are just a fairly new way to distribute media. They can be very educational, in fact some schools use podcasts for educational purposes. And they definitely weren’t around when I bought my iPod. There was nothing hidden about this feature, it didn’t exist.
Hey, while you’re trying to protect the children and their virgin ears and eyes, maybe you should consider petitioning that podcasts be banned from schools. Add that to your list of wasted efforts, because it won’t work.
Mac OSX, based on a BSD (=Unix) kernel, has not been abandonned. It has been ported on a new architecture, with an Intel processor, more performant than the IBM PowerPC.

Let’s set a few facts straight though:
Originally the iPod was ONLY available with a Firewire (aka IEEE 1394) connector. Then, later on, Windows software for iTunes and a USB connector were introduced so Windows users could access iPods. And all that happened well before the Intel shift. So, right of the bat, your credibility with technology … umm, lacking?
As to the content of Podcasts. Yeah, there are a lot of liberal ones. There are also a ton of great conservative (and for that matter, Christian) ones. If you are concerned about your children accessing inappropriate ones, well - here’s a tip: LEARN HOW TO PARENT. Take an interest in what your kids are doing. Look what Podcasts they have subscribed to.
Do you really think iPods are evil?
Apple produces machines that regular people can easily use. Even people like you can easily create your own podcast on an iMac using iLife program iWeb and easily get your own PodCast published in iTunes.

Most US Senators have what they call podcasts, as did many who were running in election in 2004. The GOP also has a couple podcasts.
i am a gay guy but and i hate the fact that they can’t make a gay t.v. show without the nudity and all that sexual stuff, That is why we get negative remarks from the public about homosexuals,its not all gay ppl who think this way. I do what a st8 person does in life,have a run in the morning,go to work,fishing with the guys,paint and even help charity,but that doen’t mean that im a bad example to our children because people i know love me to take there kids fishing and teach them how to ride a bike in the park and protect them from harm (i also hate people assuming that just cause im gay,im going to rape a child) All the children who get raped are st8 guys (dont you watch the news?) anyways if your children can reach out to a playboy,drugs,guns i dont think that banding Gay tv is the answer,I would like the community and the media to know that i want to get accepted for who i am (because i have the same affect to you) and i am having a child in a couple of months and everyone loves the fact that i will be a dad “i can’t wait till you take your kid to my house carlos” “why does the dam good looking guys have to be gay,expecially one who is about to be the hottest dad” lol . When it comes to music or enetertainment i still use a victrolla. the quality is much better and plus i dont own any other source of technology, even now i don’t know how i am writing this post.
